Playstation 3 40 Gig... no backward compatibility?

IS this true? I've heard rumors and all... does the Playstation 3 40 gig model have the backward compatibility or not? It would have to be software...I think... if backwards compatibility exists on it.

Yeah, they act like it's impossible to have a PS2 when you buy a PS3.
 
I'm hearing new rumors that the 40GB can't play PS2 games..but CAN play PS1 games :lol Which is like HUH?!

It's not that they didn't bother. They're trying to cut costs so kids can quit whining about the oh-so over the top price. Plus, everyone has a PS2. :p

Whatever, that's what I meant by the comment. :P

Although the PS2 sold a ton of units, many (such as mine) are really old and are breaking down, and it would be easier just to get a backwards compatible.
