PS2 Freezes

My PS2 is about 4 years old and it has just started freezing up constantly and searching the disk verry rapidly making a werd buzzing noise. it doese it worse on madden nfl 06. but it doese sometines on others. what can i do to fix this problem.

If it's not reading the disk, then you have to clean the eye.

It only does it at certin times could it be the game? how do you clean the eye?

It's most likely the eye....here's what you do.


Unscrew the bottom of the ps2...there's 8 screws all together...6 on the bottom platform..and 2 next to it on the overhang. Next....unscrew the top of the disk ejector...they're tiny screws..I think 6 of em...don't lose em! Next, with a q-tip, dab one end in rubbing alcohol and gently wipe it on the eye....next..with the other side of the q-tip, dry off the eye and make sure it's no longer wet at all. Next, re-assemble and the games should run smoothly.

Or you could always try getting a DVD lens cleaner from stores (about $10) and running that in the PS2.

Or you can try to clean the disc also first.
