PSP Without Square Enix? This looks bad for the PSP...

Developers aren't happy because Sony hasn't sent out the final dev kits yet but wants games ready for an end of year launch in Japan. Square Enix has now said they don't plan to make ANY games for the PSP. Even bloomburg is speculating on the failure of the PSP now.

This means at least starting out Square Enix will be developing for the DS and not the PSP. Anybody remember what happened when square developed for the PS1 and not the N64?

hmm...you sure about that...IGN only has Crystal Chronicles listed for the DS and 'Cube. Ony Fantasy games for the GBA are Tactics and FF 1 and 2

A new story of Slime Morimori Dragon Quest
Dragon Quest Monsters series
Egg Monster Heroes
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series

Those are the games Square Enix has planned for the Nintendo DS.

As for the PSP, the only thing they've really announced is FFVII: Advent Children, which is a CG movie.

you cannot expect them to be original all the time, right? :)

I think they were original on chronotrigger, ff 1/2/3 (us versions)... and a few other games.

I would prefer more original content, as the same games are basically a waste of time and money. Why not just go back to the old console and play it the way it was meant to be played?

why buy squaresoft at all?

ever since FF4... they have all been rehashes (basically) with some new twists/gameplay/tweaks/monsters... thats it.

Meh, so they ported the games to other systems.... oh well.
We got them without loads (up until FFCC - Gamecube).

considering that I test all my games, I could easily say I have played it for at least 20 minutes :)
Not to mention when people send in games w/ memory card saves... I check out later parts of games as well.
Then I clear the memory cards before they go out.

I have played and tested a good 3000 games AT least.
How do you know I haven't played and beat FF4-FFX2?
How do you know that I have haven't played all the other Snes Squaresoft RPGS. maybe I haven't played any of them?

Personally I could care less because I do not buy Squaresoft games.... except for a select few.

But I get so many games through my shop, I have a nice time test playing, and having fun ;)

In stock right now, I have over 3000 games, 1000-1200 are different titles.

I'll admit I have been a huge Squaresoft fan in the past, until they just started churning out the Final Fantasies and forgetting about everything else... Not that I don't like the FF series, but I think they have gone steadily downhill since VII, though IX and Tactics are exceptions :) And IX wasn't "that" good.

As for original games, it would be great to see Square make new ones that don't have Final Fantasy in the title... They did do a new game with Kingdom Hearts, but as soon as they saw that sell well, they started lining up the sequels.

Now I would however like to see another Chrono game... But it's not looking like that's going to happen :/
