November 03, 2004 - Kameo, we hardly knew ya. Rare's upcoming platformer, originally scheduled for a January 2005 release, has been pushed back indefinitely. Today on Rare's website, the company announced it was delaying the release of Kameo: Elements of Power to make both minor and major changes to the title.

Here's the complete message from Rare:

Here's one you didn't see coming! After a lot of thought and discussion, Rare and Microsoft Game Studios have decided to push back the launch of Kameo: Elements of Power in order to incorporate several changes and new features (some minor, some not so minor).

We realise this is frustrating in the short term to all those of you avidly following the game's progress and itching to bust some Troll heads, and we can only apologise for keeping you in suspense, but rest assured that every last one of these new developments is designed to enhance and expand the overall experience. We want this to be the best game possible, so like any delays we may have instigated in the past (surely not) we have every confidence that this one will ultimately work out for the best. Stay tuned for further updates.

No future release date has been disclosed. Kameo could ship next summer, next holiday, or even in 2006. We'll have more on Kameo in the far future.

I wonder if MS is regretting their decision. It's been three years now and the only game they have gotten out of Rare was Grabbed by the Ghoulies and soon to be Conker.

and everyone was mad at Nintendo... but what good would it have done Nintendo to keep them? Unless Nintendo forced them to pump out some releases.

Maybe its because Kameo was going to be delayed so much.... and Nintendo knew this... and had problems from the past.

"Here's one you didn't see coming"
~ that has to be sarcastic. This happens to ALL rare releases.

What about Perfect Dark 0?

And you know what is the ridiculous part? Perfect Dark Zero isn't even going to be on the XBOX. It's so delayed it won't be out until the XBOX 2.

MS paid around $35 million for Rare if the rumors are correct.

:o say what?! Not till Xbox 2?!

that better be a killer game... because the last time I saw it... it looked like junk.... how they changed the character and all.

I actually feel sorry for Msoft on this one.

I wish Nintendo would have bought them and made them pump out games on a regulard basis.... but... then again... meh... they could have sucked then.

I guess its best Msoft got Rareware.

Also the funny thing is that the 1st edition of the Gamecube box showed Kameo on it.

heck... it was going along quite well.... before Rare was bought by Msoft.

I wonder why its taking so long to come out.

Well a lot of the Rare team that worked on Perfect Dark and Goldeneye already left Rare, even before Microsoft bought Rare. So I really don't think Perfect Dark Zero will be as good as Perfect Dark anyway. But I guess we'll see when it comes out. :)

rumor has it that they left as Microsoft bought RAre.

Many went to:
www.zoonami.com

They had some cool info on that site, but now it seems that they are redoing the site.
Zoonami is developing for the Gamecube... although nothing has been released yet.
There are a couple titles planned by them... but they are totally kept secret right now.
