RE4 Reaches Milestone
More than 500,000 units of Evil invaded North America.

June 7, 2005 - Capcom announced recently that Resident Evil 4 has sold more than a half million units since its debut last January. According to NPD sales data, RE4 outsold every other game released in the month of January, with sales strong well after RE4's launch month. The latest report from the NPD Group, which tallied sales from January through April 2005, confirm Capcom's survival horror title has surpassed the half-million mark through sales in both the U.S. and Canada.

"With Resident Evil 4, the series and the entire survival horror genre have been advanced to a whole new level," said Todd Thorson, director of marketing, Capcom Entertainment. "It's been rewarding to see that the incredible response the game has received from fans and critics has been mirrored by a phenomenal retail performance."

RE4 is the latest entry in the popular Resident Evil series, which has sold in excess of 26 million units worldwide. Of course, this easily makes the Resident Evil series Capcom's most-cherished franchise. And for those who don't know, RE4 centers on Leon Kennedy, hero of Resident Evil 2, as he attempts to rescue the U.S. president's daughter from the clutches of a deranged cult.

Not too bad for the Gamecube, eh? Maybe it didn't sell as bad as what they thought. Anymore.. 500,000 units is a good number. You do not see many titles hitting that...

Post up :)

I forget.

I believe its 150-200k for Xbox, 300k for Ps2, and around 300-500K for Nintendo.

I know Nintendo has stricter standards for the players choice.

But I think it also has to have been out for a certain amount of time. I don't think it qualifies yet at just having been out about 6 months.

I just got this game not to long ago and Im already on disc 2. Really impressive RE game, graphics are just insane no doubt about it! No ink ribbons too, Im so glad they got rid of those. I dont like how you upgrade your weapons, I mean what happened to just finding your own weapons lying around? Now you have to pay for them and upgrade them often. Another thing is that your able to snipe! LOL

Ya, they really piss me off when it comes to things like that. That's why you don't see as many cheap games for the Cube. Dang money-grubbing scrooges. >:(

There are many games that achieve that status.

And its good to have higher standards... not any old game gets the status of players choice. Unlike on the Ps2 where every game on the block basically gets it.

Still, people that are strapped for cash for games (like me, spent too much too fast) always like seeing a good game for around $20.

yeah... I do agree....  but at the same time... I cannot stand the players choice / greatest hits / platinum hits packaging.

I'd much rather have the price drop in the normal packaging.

also, seeing greatest hits on a playstation game instantly drops the value...... and then for retailers.... it makes a 2 tiered price structure because people will pay more for the non-greatest hits games. They are actually worth more later down the road *in most cases.... IE Xenogears*.

I am all for cheap games.... but not in nasty changed packaging.

I agree especially those ugly green greatest hits packaging on the first PS1 games. They should just put a sticker on the outside of the plastic that says "greatest hits". That would be a lot better.

man i dont even have the game yet...right now im looking at investing in a gamecube and this will be my first game. it looks like a gem of a game
