Master System games will go for $4 on US Wii Earlier this year, Sega announced that it would be bringing Sega Master System games to the Wii Virtual Console in Japan, Europe, and North America. Today the publisher announced the first pair of titles gamers can look forward to seeing on the downloadable game service, as well as a starting price point.

Action platformer Wonder Boy and side-scrolling shoot-'em-up Fantasy Zone will comprise "the first wave of many" Master System releases for the Virtual Console, and cost-conscious gamers will be able to pick them up for as little as 400 Wii points ($4). That puts Master System games at the lowest price point on the Virtual Console yet, a buck cheaper than the starting prices for NES games and Commodore 64 titles, both of which start at 500 Wii points ($5).

Okay apparently this news story was incorrect...Nintendo is charging 500 points and not 400.. :( Thanks gamespot..ya dirty liar!

not only that but wonder boy i think is another version of adventure island because IGN gave it a bad score because something like that

Wonder Boy came before Adventure Island. Plus IGN is IGNorant and hates anything old school, just like GameStop.

Escape/Westone had a licensing arrangement whereby they owned the rights to the game, but Sega retained rights to the main characters, bosses, and names. Because of this they teamed up with Hudson Soft to produce a conversion of the game for the NES, under a new license.

To get around the licensing issue, Hudson Soft simply had the graphics of the main character and the title changed. The result was Adventure Island, which instead of featuring Tom-Tom, featured a character known as Master Higgins, who bore a striking resemblance to Tom-Tom, albeit with a hat. The game was, however, Wonder Boy in all but name. In this arrangement, once again, Hudson Soft retained the rights to the character and name, allowing them to continue to produce future games using the Adventure Island name and characters. These sequels are not based on the Wonder Boy sequels.
