September 13th, 2006 DS Lite "Onyx" and "Coral Pink" models are released

The new colors also complement numerous DS games, including New Super Mario Bros., which has hit the 1 million unit sales mark after just 12 weeks on sale in the United States. That's an average of roughly eight games sold each minute continuously since launch, making it the fastest-selling DS title in the United States for a 12-week period. Overall, DS system and game sales are both up more than 300 percent in July alone.

There was only 1 system that contended with the playstation 2... and many weeks it outsold the Playstation 2. That would be the Game Boy Advance. Between the Ps2 and the GBA... I don't know how that many units were sold... I really don't. You'd think by that time, people would have 4-5 GBA's or Ps2's.... BUT... both systems really sold a ton.

The DS Lite will more than likely continue that trend, AND rightfully so. There are just a MASS of great titles on the DS. I cannot see how some people cannot find something to play on the DS. To each their own though... eh? :)

I had to return something to Wally World yesterday, and the lady in front of me was returning a DS Lite. She bought it, took it home and opened the box and the poor handheld was in two pieces!! The hinges snapped during shipment (most likely)!!

Now, I am sure that this is an isolated case. And I hope that I didn't witness what could be an epidemic. :-\
