Should they have kept Revolution?

As in the name? Im pretty sure they only changed it to Wii s they could have clever marketing (Nintendo go scared) and now they can say things like Wii-mote, but even so Revolution sounded much cooler, and it would more accurately discribe what nintendo is trying to do with the gaming industry, *revolutionizing* it.

wii has a more in depth meaning, and it indeed means "revolution"

it sounds like "we" which means that everyone can play it together, and the two "i"s in "Wii" symbolize two people playing together

Revolution. I think the head of Nintendo had a late night party and thought of Wii.

I really wish they had left it Revolution. The Wii sounds like a name some American guy who was working at Nintendo gave because he felt like playing a huge joke on Japanese people who wouldn't see that the name Wii sounds funny. Plus, the Wii has forced us all to endure the horrible jokes like "I just bought my Wii from a store last week."

i think it does matter, i wouldnt buy the x box if it were gaybox and im sure a lot of people wouldnt, but as awsome as revolution sounds as a name i think wii sounds more like a nintendo name, its not as serious sounding and sounds more fun, lol

It also symbolizes the motion connection between the Wiimote and the game. AS for Revolution, a while back, I would have said yes, but now Wii is starting to grow on me. Maybe.

strubes of all people, i thought you would give up gears or war for such a reason!

Wii's fine now..but playing as Fenix and seeing the Cole Train on the gaybox would raise suspicions about those characters. :lol

Revolution was a much cooler name. I don't think many would agree that they liked or understood the name change to "Wii". But the controversy did get them some great publicity, and as anyone can see, it hasn't hindered sales.

Personally I'd have liked if they kept the name Revolution, but I have nothing to back that up with aside from personal bias.

I just like how short Wii is. So when I say Nintendo Wii it is only 4 syllables instead of 7, which it would have been to say Nintendo Revolution. And if you leave out Nintendo, it's one syllable versus 4. I'm lazy like that, you know. :p

My friend calls it the Nintendo "us" because it's a multiplayer system. :D

It isn't Nintendo Wii at all, actually. The makers intended it to be just Wii, so every country could have it the same way and so it could show what it meant, and the simplicity of it.

Wii does have the simplicity that spans across just about any language. But I'd have to say that "Revolution sounds so much cooler.
