Sims 2 Graphics Problems

When running Sims2 the graphics sporadically blur and jump into some 70's drug trip. Is there a fix for this?

NVIDIA GeForce6200SE Turbo Cache(TM)
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.40GHz x2
2 gig RAM

Running multiple expansions off of the SIMS2 Pets Disk; if you need more info let me know and I will run it down.
