So, what do you all make of this Bird Flu?

I was just wondering...it is supposed to get pretty bad. Post your thoughts!

Personally, I think it will still be a while before anyone can accurately predict the scope of the disease.

yeah

who knows how long it will take to become serious

well it could be pretty scary. I hope everything turns out ok
yeah it is scray i heard some say that it could wipe out 50% of the worlds population

that is really scray

50%? Where did you hear that? That is beyond unlikely...There have been flu pandemics before, with even less options to prevent it that haven't even come close to 50%. The only disease that ever reached that scale was the Bubonic Plague. It will become VERY serious though once a subtype of the disease can spread from humans to humans.

:lol

I'm sorry, but I find it hard to believe in these doomsday diseases anymore. I learned my lesson once the big "West Nile" scare hit Canada. I read several pamphlets and watched numerous TV shows about why I should be mortally terrified of mosquitos. In the end I figured it was pointless to worry about these sorts of things. I just kinda figured if it's my time then it's my time. Ever since then I've heard all these "superflus" and other globally threatening diseases, but none of them ever lived up to half the hype the media gave it.

Don't even get me started on SARS...

Scary until you cook it just right with a hint of lemon pepper. Bird dieases go away as soon as that feathered fiend hits the fryer or oven. Baked or Fried, it's a good thing :) Such a yummy treat as well! Turkey, Chicken, Sqwab, Quail, etc. BIRD it's what's for DINNER! *dramatic music playing with an Orchestra*

A lot of the time it's the hype that often is more harmful than the disease it's self.
And yes, I agree with Spartan. 50% is almost an insane number. The disease may be devistating in 3rd world countries. But it's highly unlikely that it will be a huge death sentence for half the world's population.

Yeah. The hype can be bad, but it isn't intentional. Would you rather not know about it at all, and then, assuming the disease DOES hit, watch people start dying everywhere for no reason?

And as a general response to most of the above posts: Better safe than sorry!

Yes. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
But at the same time I don't mean that I should stick my fingers in my ears and close my eyes to the subject. What I meant was that someone is reporting a potential 50% loss of human life. Information and overblown hype are two different things.

Yeah, someone should smack whoever reported the Bird Flu is expected to kill over 3 billion people. 3 BILLION PEOPLE. I honestly do not think a human can truly comprehend a loss of life on such a scale.

so should i smack my 21 year old bro :?

if i was to do that i think that he would smack me back alot harder :'(

Monkeyboy, I say hit him with a wet mop and lay him out. That way when he wakes up hours later with a headache, you are miles away. Or kilometers. :D

:lol i think that he would take the blow fall to the ground then get back up and chase me untill he gets me

then bet the poo out of me

btw it is GoRiLlAz_RoCk not monkeyboy

I can't help it. I am used to calling you Nato. And I see this "Gorillaz" thing, and I can't bring myself to butcher the English language intentionally. Besides, Monkeyboy has a nice ring to it. :D
