some ideas on XBOX live, could reality show based games be the next online craze

heres some possiblities
Survivor: join a tribe and on a select days participate in challenges and go to Tribals, it would be like the sims except you really have to work for your food and hunger and dehidration effect your challenge performance
Amazing Race: pretty straight forward challenges and maybe some racing game elements involved
Fear Factor: not sure how they would do the fear thing but I'd say a Fear Factor online game if done right could RULE!!!!
American Idol: this could rock, you could have to pass all auditions with REAL people to get onto a final team, then people could listen to your singing to vote for you, this is what the original AI game could have been!!!!

i dont know.........i had an old survivor game for the PC......didnt go over to well, it was very boring

i dont think you can really simulate reality TV with a game

TV show tie-in games tend to bomb. Don't ask me why, they just do. Although I can see how an online game like Survivor could be cool, I don't think it would evoke the same feelings that the show did for a couple reasons. 1) there's no drama between characters, because, they're not really there, and 2) you're not actually hungry, and you're not going to win $1,000,000 if you survive, so there's not the same motivation as they have on the show. As well, it would probably just be a bunch of randomly selected minigames that people would play online, not that great. It would be like Mario Party, except online, which isn't a bad idea, but would get boring once you played the same minigames over and over 100 times.

If this happens it will be the end of gaming as we know it. I like survivor on tv, I like apprentice on tv but let's be realistic. These "reality" games would probably never get a score better than 5.0 {out of 10} and there would just be heaps and heaps of stupid, mediocre games, that almost nobody will play. I can see it now, "Apprentice: The game" and it would tie for shame of the month with the new "Penthouse" game...Your ideas are great though oldschooler but in reality it would not turn out like that, why? because they would just rush it through knowing people would buy it just because the shows are good. Just like they know they can make a game with boobies and no gameplay but it will still sell.

I agree with X2's assessment on this. In general games tied in with movies, tv shows, or comics bomb. The main reason why that is true is because the developers think people will buy the game based on the licence only and not even worry about the gameplay. I think the same thing would happen here as well with the reality TV.

ok, but what about LOTR, Spiderman 2, and the Star Wars games, those are tie ins and yet they are some of the best around! if the devolopers had the care then they could pull it off!

LOTR hack n slash are decent. The RPG is aweful. Star Wars games have all been aweful until KOTOR came along. Spiderman 2..its pretty decent game.

I was talking about the ones based on the movies
yeah the RPG was bad but the publisher olny had the rights to the LOTR books
Star Wars, so your saying Rouge Squadron was bad?

The problem with that is that its a really big "if". Sure movie tie-in games can be good, I enjoyed Spiderman 2, the LOTR hack'n'slash games, the Harry Potter games, and the like, but I'm still extremely skeptical of any move games. Why? Because I've been burnt so many other times that the games I listed have become the exception to the rule.

Oh, I also lvoed the Clone Wars game, even though a lot of other people thought it sucked. But I still wouldn't buy a Survivor game, lol.
