Sorta Cool Console Idea

While showering tonight, I thought of something that would be kinda cool for consoles. Since they're all going online nowadays, they should include an option to download demos of games (whether video or playable) that have recently come out/coming out soon. It might take away some of the money from the rental companies, but if it was free, you could download a demo of a game, see if you like it, delete the demo and buy the game. Heck, they could even include a certain time limit for the demo before it deletes itself automatically.

Just a thought. I know they already have demos on magazine disks and such, but if you just wanted to spend nothing to see if a highly rated game is what you're looking for (like me with Ninja Gaiden and KOTOR and a few others) it would be a good idea. I don't want to rent either game, and I'm not sure if my friend would let me borrow KOTOR or not. I already have a subscription to GMR, so I don't need another gaming magazine laying around (although it would be nice... ) just for the demo disk.

Ya, that would be pretty cool. It would be a great way to promote an online service, maybe even have demos of the game come out a couple weeks in advance of the game's release, that way you could tell if you wanted to pre-order it or not. And then people who would not ordinarily subscribe to an online service might check it out, as a way to rent games, like you said.
