When I pick an RPG I'm very picky when it comes to the "BATTLE SYSTEMS".Could anyone give me an explanation of this game's "BATTLE SYSTEM"?.Is it similar to other RPG'S in this respect?

Thank you.

You're getting Tales of Symphonia on the PS2? It's actually better on the GC, although there are extras in the PS2 version, and they only made it for PS2 in Japan.

Tales of Symphonia has a real-time battle system. You control one out of four characters (you can choose any of them, although I always preferred Lloyd) and you hit um...the green one to attack. X, I think? You can also use circle along with a direction on the d-pad for a special attack. You can set your AI teammates to battle a certain way, or you can do multiplayer during the battles and have your friends control the other characters. You see the enemies on the map before you fight, so you can try to avoid them if you want. There's no random battles, in other words.

Yeah, but only in Japan, unfortunately. The PS2 version has added costumes and stuff, but the framerate isn't as good as the GC version.

The team that did Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is a 'sister' team to the Tales team. Way back in the day, they all worked on the same stuff, and then split into groups...one group stayed with the Tales games, and one group went on to do the Star Ocean games. So yeah, it's probably somewhat similar. I've never played a Star Ocean game, though, so I really am not sure just how similar they are.

i did not know that..wild....PS2 gets everything in Japan.....even Dynasty Warriors Gundam Special Edition lol (Watered down edition)
