The DS's full potential

Do you think that Nintendo is using the DS's touch screen and wifi to its full potential?

If only L.A.I.R didn't suck
It seems to me that a larger majority of ds games haven't made full use of the ds hardware. Sure some use the touch screen well and some use the Wifi, but I think Nintendo could do better.

I have no complaints with the games what-so-ever.

I guess they could make more that use the touch screen... maybe RPGs and what-not... but really... the DS has a killer line-up right now.

who says that won't be added in the future? :)

that would be cool... but then they would have to worry about streaming the audio..... that is the only problem I could see...

BUT according to your question, no they are not using it to it's full potential yet :)

What?? The DS is not being used to it's fullest potential??? Did I miss something?? Castlevania DS is a perfect example of using the full potential of the touch screen. The top screen is just for stats, and the bottom is for gameplay. And when you beat a boss, you have to draw a seal to finish the battle. It was weird the first time, but I got the hang of it in no time.

the sealing system isn't what I would call using the touch screen to it's full potential and I know it has a little wifi, which doesn't really add much, I guess I should have mentioned the lack of innovative duel screen

I know in Castlevania top screen is the map which is very helpful, but come on a map, there could be more going on up there

I dont think it is being utilized to it's full potential and I also dont think it ever will with the popularity of WiFi. I think developers are going to concentrate more on the WiFi features because it's what is all the rage now. That doesnt mean the games arent going to be any good, just not as much touching.

The boss seal thing seems like a gimmick to me that they added to make it "ds exclusive"...

The stat screen is the same as it always was, 'cept you don't have to press select to get to it. I wish that Dawn of Sorrow was a GBA game instead.

I thought Animal Crossing and Nintendogs were a good use of the DS.

I think if anything the third party games are the ones that aren't using the full potential.

nintendo's and animal crossing both don't incorporate wifi in a significant way

I have to disagree in part.

Nintendogs has Bark Mode, which, granted, isn't much. But it does still make use of the wi-fi.

But as for Animal Crossing... You do realize that Animal Crossing is online, right? You can visit the towns of people living across the world. It works the same way as Mario Kart DS as far as the wi-fi goes. You just exchange friend codes and you can wi-fi with someone else. It's a little more of a hassle than Mario Kart because whoever's town you want to visit in AC needs to know in advance so they can open their gates. But it would be a gross mistatement to say that Animal Crossing Wild World does not make significant use of wifi.

Right, so MKDS and AC: WW are the ones that are the most popular for Wi-Fi.

Who's got Tony Hawk's American Sk8Land? That's a Wi-Fi game.

At least, I THINK it is...

I think nintendo needs to make a game with good use of the touch screen, (which AC WW does not do) and make good use of wifi together, in the same game

I think nintendo is starting to use the DS's full potential now, to name a few Metroid Prime Hunters and Tetris DS
