The Game That Just Keeps On Giving

Sometimes I've just got to take a step back and simply appreciate how great a game is. When A publisher pours it's heart and soul into a game it shows. Perfect example, Advance Wars 1 and 2. I've played this game for countless hours, and for well over three years. I rarely change the cartridge to play another game, and if I do, its only for a short time. I can literally play this game all day and not want to stop (although I do, because it starts to hurt my eyes after awhile). I played this game for a good year just playing the versus maps. Then I started making my own and playing on those which kept me entertained for another year. Now I'm playing through the campaign (which I find is annoying when you have to use powers, it makes it mroe RPG and less strategy) and not only am I having a blast, but you also unlock features that make the Vs. Maps worth going through again. I've had it for three years, still play it consistently, and I haven' even touched the Battle Maps (another gameplay mode).

So, any other games you guys play that you'll always have fun going back to and playing again?

I can play Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby for countless hours, but I don't think i'd play through it more than once. I'm on a mission to catch all Pokemon and then that's it. It's really addictive though (although I haven't played it since that 4 hour incident I talked about in GD).

And then there's Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. Once I beat it, I wont pick it up again for a while, but it's always guaranteed one day that it'll be picked up again and beaten.

Advanced wars 2.... DEFINITELY..

I keep coming back to that game. Its sooo addictive.

I would love this game (in an updated graphics version) for the Gamecube.... that would be awesome.
.... but really... Advanced wars 2 has to be mine for the GBA.

Delta Force Black Hawk Down is it for the PC :lol

I'm thinking about Advance Wars, but as I can't play multi-player on GBA games, I have a feeling it might be pointless. Is multi-player important or does single player have enough? Also, which AW is better?

Actually, to be honest, I don't need addictive games right now, I have lots of games that need beating before getting Animal Crossing and ToS this winter.

I have never played AW multiplayer before, so I don't think its very important at all.

I would say the first Advance Wars was better, just because it didn't have Neo Tanks, which were by far the stupidest looking units in AW2. Plus they were awesome, so you needed to use them. Other than that I'd say AW2 is better, just a lot more polish on the presentation.

AW2 is sooooo awesome!! I'm on the last level in campaign mode...it's a doozy! I love neotanks, they are wickedly deadly. :af

My GBA "Game That Just Keeps On Giving" would probably have to be Golden Sun.

It may seem crazy since GS is kinda a cookie-cutter rpg, but I find myself replaying that more often than any of my other GBA games. I spent about 110 hours on FFTA for one game, but I bet if I put together all the times I have played Golden Sun it would add up to more.

I've been recently resisting the urge to play it again, as I would like to get through Aria of Sorrow and Pokemon FireRed first.

Ya, I've heard FFTA is a "must have" for the GBA. Never played it though. I did play GS back in the day, but I didn't take the time to listen to story/learn how to play, so I went to one of the hardest areas first, and, well, died. So I quit playing and never started up again.

The campaign can get ridiculous at times, and almost overwhelming. I hate how most times the odds are stacked so against you it seems impossible. I don't plan on playing through that part of the game more than once, if I ever do finish playing through it.

I would agree with Mai. Golden Sun was a very enjoyable game that I played a few times through. I would always bring it when I went on vacation to see if I could beat the whole game. Pokemon used to be an amazing game that I played many times through. I havent played the game in a few years, but back in the day I couldnt put that game down.
