I dont even know what it is.

It is the cloth placed over Jesus when he died,or another man that looks the same as Jesus.

Part of the shroud has been scientifically tested and, through radiocarbon-dating, was found to be made around 1300. There are a million claims of bias and error with this test from believers and the church that owns the Shroud, but they are refusing to let scientists take another sample. This is enough to make me think that the Shroud was a hoax created during the middle-ages to attract people to the church (and there are many many "artifacts" in churches across Europe that are in fact fakes, created to drum up interest in the church).

If you look hard enough, you can see that the man's thumbs are pointed inward. That comes from damage to the hand wrist area. What hoaxer would take that into account?

How do you mean pointed inward?

Hi Cherry!

Hold your hands palms up.Move your thumb to the middle of your palm without it bending at all.

Hi Cherry,

With my computer skills up to this point, this is the best I can do.I hope it helps

If the body the shroud was on was in a flexed position, the pressure between the shroud and the hands would have caused the thumbs not to be pressed against the cloth.

More information would be needed to figure out the liklihood of flexing though. Many areas during many times have flexing of the body as a standard burial practice. I have studied more about burials in the Americas than I have burials in Europe and the middle east, however.

So you are saying that because you can see no thumbs, they are point inward (I at least can't see them in that picture)? There are many parts of the person that are not entirely visible in that picture. It may simply be that his thumbs (along with his feet) made no imprint on the Shroud. His thumbs may be turned inward in the way you describe, but it is far from certain based upon that picture alone.
