Do you think that there should be more "Side Quests" in today's RPG's,or perhaps some "Side Quests" in other genres as well to spice things up?

God bless

Well, I personally love side quests and see no reason why there shouldn't be more of them in games, granted they are optional.

Well side quests are good if they are fun..then it is like getting something extra....but some side quests are just annoying, and those I could do without. :)

Yeah, exactly. I love side quests but not some of the crazy stuff the Final Fantasy series has come up with over the years.

Agreed. There can be a million sidequests, so long as they're optional.

Side quests are quests on the side, meaning optional. All the little 'do this to get there to advance the story' is still part of the main quest.

Very, very good.

Except some side quests reveal more about the main story. If they had alot of side quests in a game, would you dislike it? Remember side quests are:

I would. It would detract from the main experience. If they have extra production time, go ahead, add in some more stuff, but don't focus on a ton of optional things when you've got the main quest to worry about.

Well I guess in some instances I agree, but I hardly ever find what you said to be the case. I mean, I can't honestly think of a game that had a lot of side quests where I felt like "man, this game would have been soooo much better if they put more focus in the main quest!". So it's like, what you're saying sounds true in principle, but in reality I don't think it's the case {or at least very much}. But, I would like to know if there is a specific game where you felt that way?

It wouldn't detract from the main experience since they're....optional. If the main story's already finished, why not throw in some side quests?

It's the taking time/workers away from the main quest that does it, not the actual side quest. It's the developing.

Yeah, uh...I said that.

I see you missed the point.
Oh, whoops, that was my bad, I put in main experience when I meant to say main quest quality.
