Viva Pinata...thoughts?

Hey folks,

So I've been considering a 360 for some time. Money (or lack of it rather) has always been the issue. Now it appears that my wife and I MAY be able to afford one.

Now I see this Viva Pinata game. I think it looks great. Like the perfect blend of Sims and Animal Crossing. However I've heard from a coworker that a lot of people are comparing it to Pokemon and say it's too "kiddie."

I have seen the 4KidsTV logo used on a flyer for the game our Microsoft rep gave us at work, but still...from what I've read the game seems deep enough to not be labeled "kiddie."

What do you guys think?

The Pokemon comparisons are because of how Viva Pinata has been marketed. Similar to Pokemon, VP has its own cartoon and line of toys. And 4Kids does Pokemon as well as the VP cartoon.

I too kind of labeled Viva Pinata as kiddy before I saw the E3 footage of it. Now I think it's more like you said: a perfect blend of Animal Crossing and the Sims. I'm also fascinated by the prospect of making my own Pinata and then giving it to a friend through XBOX Live.

The only problem with VP is that it's coming out when so much other stuff is coming out. I had planned on getting it, but now I don't think I'll have the money, and I don't have anything to trade in either. So I'm going to have to wait. Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas though, after I see reviews.

I didn't know you could make your own, I thought all you could do was put a tag or something on them?
 
My brother and his girlfriend visited this week and we bought viva pinata. It is pretty much a sandbox game and is fun. We played with multiple controllers and all worked on the same garden.
 
I don't like games like this. Mix between Animal Crossing and The Sims (two games I freaking hate) doesn't make a great game in my eyes.
