Has anyone seen this lately??
They are mounting a huge offensive here in Southern Arizona this holiday season. Last night I was driving home and heard a radio commercial about this web site and organization. Now, I personally have mixed feelings about Wally World, and I do admit that I frequent their stores. But I am growing concerned about how they treat their employees. No heathcare for 50% of their employees, gender discrimination reports, etc. Maybe the gentle giant of a company is doing more harm than good.
What's everyone's thoughts??

Not sure what to say about this. I remember hearing about gender discrimination before a year or two back, but apparently it's not over yet.

I have heard from people that used to work there that they treat you like crap. There main goal is to make profit, and it seems they are trying to get away with as much as they can in order to reach that goal.

My wife used to work there shortly before we met. And she always talks about how they try to minipulate their workers and often change job descriptions in attempt to fire people who can't perform them.
I just didn't realize how bad this whole firestorm is getting untill last night.

Yeah, I used to work at Wal-Mart and I hope never to do so again. They actually pay decently but they get around it by cutting hours pretty badly. I make more than a dollar less working at GameStop now than I did at Wal-Mart, but I'm actually taking home more money each paycheck because GameStop gives me more hours than Wal-Mart did.

I guess you're gamestop is a busy one. The one I applied to said that they couldn't give more than 10 hours a week.

Well I'm an assistant manager, so I get about 40 hours each week. If you were just applying, they were quoting you hours for the Game Advisor position (entry level, in other words). Plus, if it was recently, seasonal hires don't get as much hours as Game Advisors that have been working for the company longer. But everyone has to start somewhere; as a matter of fact I was hired two years ago as a seasonal employee and now I'm an ASM. :)

Wal*mart has horrible business practices.

8 of the 10 richest people in the world are sam walton's relatives because of wal*mart.

They hire immigrants at LOWER than minimum wage, which takes jobs away from U.S. citizens and leaves taxpayers to pay more for unemployed citizens and underpayed aliens.

They don't give benefits (like retirement) to most employees, so taxpayers have to take up the slack via social security.

Wal*mart sucks, don't shop there! Shop at local businesses!

Well, I am sure one day I'll get tarred and feathered for walking through the doors of Wally World. But the sad thing is that's about all we have where I now live. A Target is just about ready to be built, so that's good news. But I also try to use the local businesses.

I'll give them credit for one thing. They're the only place that's ever carded me for buying a rated M game before (I'm 17 anyway). Target, EB games, etc. haven't even bothered. Meanwhile this place is afraid of the FBI snooping around if they sell an M rated game to and underaged kid. :lol
