What do you think will come after disks?

Well, so far, it has gone from cartridges to disks. Now, I know that the DVD's games are on will have more and more data available on them, but what do you think will replace DVD's for games? I hope that they will go back to a format where you do not need a case, unlike today's games, where to safely transport them. I am think something like a Memory Stick (for computers) with a MUCH greater capacity would be perfect. Small and you can carry them without a case.

That's kinda already done. There is a thing (forgot what its called) that is basically a PC/console hybrid that you can download games for, but you have to pay a monthly fee and a fee for each download I think. I'll try to find out what it is called.

You mean the Phantom? I wanted to check that out at E3 but didn't have the time.

It looks pretty interesting, but I wonder which would cost more over time...getting my PC upgraded to play the few PC games I want to play and getting those PC games, or getting a Phantom and paying the monthly fee along with having to buy the game.

Ya, eventually it will all just turn to transferred data, which I am really against. When I make a $70 purchase I like to get something that I can physically hold in my hand, not something abstract that I only know is there because I'm told it's there.

And, if for some reason you need a new system, you can't keep the games.......because if they made the games transferable you could just give them to friends for free.

BTW Mai, it wasn't the Phantom.........I'll tell you what it is after I dig out my magazine with the details.
