What do you want in the PS3?

My main concern:

It better have FOUR (4) controller ports out of the box!!!!! I don't want a Multi-Tap. Those are like...so 18 years ago!(they had multitaps for the NES, you know. I happen to own one).

First party wireless controllers would be nice too. But I'd be ok with wired, as long as there are 4 ports.

Secondary concern:

More color options! In the US! There's like a bazillion PS2 colors in Japan, and only black over here. WTF is up with that? That gold PS2 was freaking cool. And the blue one was nice. Yeah. I would have liked to get those over here. So with the PS3...please have more than just black consoles for the US.

That's about it. Everything else is ok. :)

I don't see that I made any mention of the Gamecube. I'm not sure why you brought it up? For all you know I could have been referring to the XBOX, which also has four ports and is also available in the US in multiple colors.

Yes, and it's because there's nothing else wrong with the PS2. Which I'm sure you'll agree with.

And no, I'm not being sarcastic. For once. I plan on getting the PS3 for the inevitable must-have exclusives, and it would just be nice if I could have it look all pretty and not have to deal with a multitap. But it's not a deal-breaker or anything. :)
 
Not that it matters, but I also could have been referring to the Dreamcast or N64, which also had 4 controller ports and came in multiple colors. It's just easy to jump to assuming I meant GC because I like the GC and it's from this gen.

But no. I wasn't expecting the PS3 to be exactly like any other system. I would just like to see some of those in the PS3 because as my example of the N64 and Dreamcast present, four controller ports is about 2 generations old now, and it would be nice if Sony finally followed the trend.

Your my kinda girl, thats exactly the same things I would want to see changed as well. The Japanese PS2's are in such cool colors, and 4 controller ports are a MUST imo. Also I hope they still use the Dual Shock pads, I don't think a massive redesign could really improve upon the perfection that it Dual Shock.

And it BETTER still be backwards compatible...imo thats one of the best features on PS2 is the ability to play old favs.

Oh and why we're wishing these things...I want my PS3 to be a skeleton system ie..clear plastic 8)
 
Yeah, I can't believe I forgot to mention backwards compatibility. That's a must-have for any system IMO.

I actually have a few issues with the Dual-Shock. It would be perfect to me if they reversed the positions of the left analog stick and the d-pad. I also wouldn't mind them losing the square, circle, x, triangle in favor of the standard a,b,x,y. I always forget where the circle and the square are (triangle is easy because it points up).

I don't know neph... I think the Xbox has more colors than the Gamecube.

At least I could name more Xbox colors than Gamecube colors  :p

actually... I hope the PS3 sucks and Sony is dethroned.  ;)  Sony's number is coming someday..  it does / has for every system.

it would, but i don't really care if i have to buy the multitap.
colors done really concern me, i like black
i'd like the controller to stay as similar as possible since i like it very much
pretty much if it does the same as ps1 -> ps2, i'll be extremely happy.
as for sony being dethroned, not unless the software stops being there. hardware doesn't matter as much, just the games ;-)
 
I thought the Xbox had only black and a see through green color? I only know of two colors for the 'Cube too.

But anyhow...as far as color options go...I like black. However those white DC's were pretty sharp too.

Spice
Black
Indigo
(Tales of Symphonia green sp ed)
and I know there are a couple others


Xbox:
Black
Sp. clear Green
Crystal (I believe ... its a see through clear)
White
MT. Dew Green Sp.
and there are a few others as well.

Yeah, the XBOX has three that I know of:

black (standard)
translucent green (the Halo edition XBOX)
green (the Mountain Dew XBOX)

It just seems like the GC had more colors because they were up for general sale while the other colors of XBOX were limited edition kind of deals.
 
Never? Who would have thought 10-15 years ago that Sega wouldn't be in the console business and that Nintendo would be largly considered in last place in the the console wars?

Never say never, retro :)

All it takes it the mainstream change, mismanagement, AND a missed product concept.

It only took 1 system for Nintendo's rep to fall.... and it was largely unbased opinions of the mainstream that did it.

yeah well my opinion of sega still really hasn't changed, and nintendo is still around making games i like
GC colors? i have black, platinum, orange type of thing and possibly purple, not sure on the purple
but i got 3 of them for free since a friend got all wavebirds
 
i like the idea of 4 player ports to the Orignial question and all i really want is it to cost 100.00 dollars, that would be nice.

yeah... $100 would be somewhat killer :lol

I think for $100 everyone would have a PS3, including their brother, mother, father, grand parents, and all the greats in their family :)

By the way, welcome to the boards :) we hope you enjoy your stay!
