Hi All,

I understand that Obama was refused funding to help close "Guantanimo Bay Prison".I understand the fact that they just can't let any president go "Hog Wild",but what the hell is good about being the most powerful man in the world, when they can just say no.

Why can't he just say,to hell with y'all,I'm doing it anyway?I'm interested to know.

Godspeed,
Kaz

Checks and balances. Legislative branch controls the purse strings far more than the executive branch does.

Hi Spartan,
I hope this doesn't sound like "Amateur Hour" politics knowledge, but can't he just "Veto" their decision?

Spartan is right, checks and balances. And yes he can veto, and if they have enough votes, they can over ride a veto.

It works like this dude.
Congress makes a bill and passes it to the president
the president can pass it or veto it
but the congress can override a veto with a 2/3 rds vote of congress
but the supreme court can override it all if it finds it unconstitutional.
