What Is Your Opinion On The Reviews Of Games From Sites Like "IGN"?

I'm as objective as the next guy,but I don't really rely on their reviews to the extent that I will go out and buy a game because of it.
You?

Not too much. I mostly go by word of mouth from gamers I trust, or extensive user reviews on sites like Gamefaqs.com.

Not very much, I prefer to read reviews from users at GameFAQs, and I read multiple ones. That way I can get a gamer's view on the game, not a professional review writer, and I can get more than one side of the game so I can compare people's pros/cons.

No reviewer can accurately predict the experience you will have with a game. They play games under entirely different circumstances than most actual gamers: 1) They don't personally invest money in the game 2) They're under a time limit to complete the game 3) They aren't reviewing the experience of the game when you play it again, several months later 4) They are playing the game to judge it, etc. etc.

Reviews can give you a break down of a game, an opinion on it, a closer look at it than would otherwise be possible. But they aren't purchase guides.

I like the sites in which they sum it up or say who will like it and who want.

Most of the time though, I only buy my games on day 1 (or if it is so popular that it is an Amazon deal of the day), which usually results in my not having any preconveived thoughts or opinions from game reviewers. But in the times that I do buy games after day one, I usually read the reviews on Amazon or player reviews. I usually prefer hearing about it from people who have actually bought the game and are in that genre that may like it or noobs like myself (for FPS and other type genres I dont normally play).

Gamespot and IGN do nice summaries and they are usually spot on. Gametrailers I always believe cause videos are way convincing.

I read reviews but generally I don't use them as a guideline. If I liked what I saw about the game in previews and trailers, then I buy it, even if it doesn't get stellar reviews. No one's taste is quite the same as mine.
