What Separates These Two Kinds Of Blank Discs?

Hi Members!

I was wondering if someone could tell me what separates blank "DVD-R" & "DVD+R" discs?

I believe +R was originally designed for a wider range of compatibility with set-top DVD players than -R was, but I'm not entirely sure on this. Most drives nowadays burn both formats.

They were developed by different companies. But functionally they are exactly the same.
