What's the deal with old saved files?

With little power comes little responsibility
I've heard people ask this a number of times before and I really have no idea... What happens to our saved game files when we buy 360? Can we transfer them over via Memory Card? I've heard that the memory card for 360 is a different kind than there was on the Xbox. In that case, what do we do? Upload via Xbox Live? That would lag down the server a considerable amount. And wow, I just wrote alot in this post for such a simple question.

(btw - congratulate me on my first Triple Digit Post! :p)

I think I might be missing something here, but why would anything happen to them at all? Or are you talking about playing Xbox games on the 360 with the save files that you have from playing it on the original Xbox?

Its quite simple.

You have the disks form the Xbox still around and you still have the memory cards. Transfering can be done in two ways if I recall.

-Inserting the Xbox memory card in the Xbox 360's.
-Using your Subscription from Xbox Live to DL from your online profile your games onto the Xbox 360 [Once you have the game saves saved on your account]

Either that or a piece of hardware will be able to connect to the Xbox 360 and emulate the memory from the Xbox to the 360.

They've done it to every other unit. ALot of people find it inevitable to prevent it. Its true that anyone with a little bit of expiraence can use the emulation device to hacking needs but it doesnt effect anyone but the hacker/s that are involved in it, and those who choose to become apart of it

The 360 can run games that computer could run in 2004 with ease. It figures that it would just be easier to use the computer then the 360. Since I know several hackers who are willing to find a way to emulate the 360 for whatever needs they have, you have heard correct mastermario.

I'm not really sure to tell you the truth. Since your already using Eathernet cables to use Xbox Live your using them the entire time. I don't think that by directly connecting the two with Ethernet cables would work, since the cables wernt made to connect two gaming unitss, they were made to allow gaming units such as 360 and Xbox, to use internet options.

I still am unsure since I don't think any one of us have tried it yet. :lol

They were made to transfer data over them. Just like if you hooked up two computers together with ethernet cables you get a very crude LAN system. You can transfer files over them no problem. But I was just wondering if this was possible on the xbox.

That sounds like it could work. It would be the same as copying it over Xbox Live, except it would be a local network, wouldn't it?

ummm Atama... You said that I could just use my memory cards? ... I don't OWN any memory cards. That was my whole problem in the first place, thanks though.

And another thing, Atama... You said that Ethernet cables weren't made to connect two gaming consoles.
Well then what does the system link option for the XBox do?

You can use an ordinary CAT5 Ethernet Crossover cable for a system link cable, if you want to.

No offense meant at all, I'm just curious as to what you're saying. :p

I didnt want to start a new topic for this, but will the new Xbox 360 be able to play the old xbox games?

So far only certain games are going to be backwards compatible. Might change by the time it gets released though.
