Who else is bothered by this?

OK, I really hate it when some kids who are sick in the head and they go postal on their school and then say 'Video games told me to do it.' then the government believes them, and the video games companies (mainly the ones that make games like GTA) get nailed with a law suit!!! :huh um, the kids are obvously saying that to lower the charges, which probably doesn't work anyway.

yeah those kind of people really put the video game industry in tough spot, accusing it of something it didn't do

*Completely Agrees*

Yea, I'll believe em when someone dresses up in an all-green motocross outfit with the Helmet n all...grabs a rifle...n says he's trying to take out the Covenant and save the world. Haha that...or maybe he's gone insane. :lol

The kids that go "postal" in their schools rarely (if ever, I've never heard of them saying that) point the finger at videogames. I've only ever heard various senators, psychologists, and other professional people blame videogames. It's an easy answer, and a cop out, and it's avoiding the real issue because no one is prepared to accept the responsibility of something like this. Not the parents, not the teachers, not the kids themselves, or the other kids that go to school. The way these events are covered it makes it seem like their school was the happiest place in the world and for some strange reason a couple of perfectly happy kids just decided to go nuts.

Society's problems, especially in the education section, go a lot deeper than some violent videogames. And there's a good chance they won't get coverage on any network news station...

There was a case once where a guy's defense was that he ate too many Twinkies, and that's what made him commit murder.

But usually the "videogame defense" is doctered into the case by the parents of the screwed up kids or the attorneys.

the most famous video game blame game was when two people shot up their school and then testifyed in court that life was a video game

it forced the video game industry to develop the ESRB system

I don't even listen to that, well, the word I'm looking for isn't family friendly, so I'll just say crap. Video games don't influence people to kill other people. If you are willing to murder someone in cold blood, you have issues that go much deeper than video games.

some people blame video games for teaching children how to kill, what are you guys thoughts on that

Well, by God, if video games train people to kill I must be Rambo incarnate.

Military simulators can be used to train people, but it doesn't desensitize them to violence or make them murderous.

Are you sure that's what caused the development of the ESRB? I remember reading that it was because of Mortal Kombat that they decided to make the ESRB.

Well, it was a combination of alot of things, mostly it was senators afraid that children would duplicate what they did in video games

although i agree with what you are saying, video games only further desensitise people to violence.

now games don't tell kids to go kill people, over time they can make killing seem not a big deal.

think about it, you kill hundreds of people in first person shooters.

sometimes people have mental episodes and that produces the violence in our schools.

take Columbine for example. almost right off the bat people where jumping right on video games. its mostly a scapegoat for bad parents.
