Yes, that will of course void the warranty. I will do that when I get a PS3, but than again that will be in like 4 years when the thing only cost's $250-300. I would never do it now, especially given the track record of issues with newly released consoles. Think about it man, something screws up, and you're truly SOL, and out of $700 :-\
 
Yeah, voiding a warranty on a console that is less than a month old is not smart. At the very least, wait until your warranty expires.
