Why Do "P2P" Sites Exist?

Why is it that "P2P" sites exist?
Are they there for financial profit,or just to spite the "Powers That Be" that consider them unlawful?

Well there are legal reasons to use them. I mean what if I wanted to send you a bunch of documents or spread these documents throughtout a business, it could essentially be more convenient for things that exceed the limits for email.
 
Not everything on P2P clients/sites are unlawful. Open Source software is completely legal to distibute. As long as the owner/arthor of the product agree for it to be there then it's legal.

They exist to exchange digital data throughout the internet. It's been around almost as long as the internet. It's up to you how you want to use them.
