hey guys just wondering on how to get starcraft/broodwar working with xp, it say please insert cd when the cd is already in and it also wont install......is there is a crack or patch i can download to get it to work and if not how the hell do u get it to work.
Cracks are not illegal, however they go against the ToS you agreed to when installing it. They also go against the ToS here at the boards, and are not discussed.
I have XP as well, and it installed and ran perfectly fine here. Also works fine on my brother's XP machine, as well as my friend's XP computer. You could try going to Windows Update and downloading/installing everything available for you. That may help. Also, you should disable any CD/DVD emulation software, such as Alcohol 120% and Nero, by following the instructions available in the help files for such programs, or available online.
If you still are unable to install after following these steps, I shall try to assist you further.
Doesnt XP have that option where you can make older programs to work? I use to have XP and I remember that option.
This is what I got from the Microsoft website.
"In addition to the application fixes, Windows XP Professional has a mechanism that allows the user or IT administrator to specify if an application needs to run in either Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 95/98 or Windows Me compatibility mode. In this mode, Windows XP Professional system DLLs provide appropriate responses to the running application, allowing it to execute appropriately without a noticeable loss of performance."
Here you go: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prmb_tol_rjfi.asp
