Would you buy a Blu-ray 360?

But that doesn't do anything about the people who already purchased a 360 and will want the Blu-ray player.
Yeah, exactly, that's the problem with doing it, and they have to figure out if it will be worth it in the end.

Microsoft has deep pockets..but not when it comes to the 360...
How so? They've shown time and time again that they're willing to spend massive amounts of money to keep their game industry afloat. They engaged in a huge price war with Sony, last generation, while taking massive loses, to stay competitive. They shelled out a billion to extend 30 warranties. Considering how much they have already spent to get the Xbox off the ground, I don't see why they would make a model that could never be competitive in terms of price.

I mean, they've already invested so much in this. Why not just go all out?

As much as I would love a Blu-Ray player, I don't have an HDTV to use it on. I would never re-buy an Xbox 360 just to have one, though. If anything, I think Microsoft would make an external drive, like they did with HDDVD.

One way or another, if they do implement Blu-ray consumers will still have to spend roughly around $500 for a player anyways.

They will either buy...

A new 360 with Blu-ray
A PS3
Or a standalone player.

After thinking about it, Sony will win either way.

Nah, I'll have both consoles eventually. No hurries though, cuz it'll be at least a couple of years before I get a new TV. (Waiting for the big LCDs to get cheaper.)
