Your Highlights of 2011?

So how was the year for you all? What changes happened in your life for better or worse? And finally, what changes would like to make in 2012?

For me, 2011 was an average year. I'd say one of the more memorable things I did was jury duty. It was a very funny "slip and fall" case where it was clear this chick was just being greedy and was totally bs'ing. Of course all us jurors had a good laugh at her expense and awarded her absolutely nothing lol. Oh, and I had my first black bear encounter in the woods this year. That was exciting! I also got lots of paying art gigs in 2011 and I feel like I did a lot of growing as an artist. So all in all a good year I'd say :)

Big thing I wanna do in 2012 is join some drawing or painting classes because I think it'd be great way to network with other artists and maybe even meet somebody "special" if ya know what I means...

2011 socially was an amazing year. I met so many new, awesome people through Homestuck meet-ups. I had fun at every convention I went to.

Work wise, it was kind of crappy. We started a lot of new things this year and some were more well-planned than others. December in particular was really stressful.

In 2012 I'd like to find a better job, mostly.

In 2011 I met so many new friends. Realized a few things, which completely changed my overall course of the year, and I just had an awesome year.

Started making a game I hope to get on Steam (seriously) and got a sort of job. My brother and I have gone through a few different ideas for a game. They all went well until we just lost motivation, or ran into a (very big) problem, but I think we're on the right track now.

A lot of more personal stuff happened last year that really changed my life, and I won't talk about it here. :D

So Happy New Year, everyone. I hope you all had an amazing year and I wish you a very good year looking ahead. ^^

2011 was a good year, especially the second half. The last months of high school and my last summer were really great. I got to know a lot of new people and generally had a great time. My first semester at college was just as good. 2011 has been good to me, I hope 2012 is equally so.

Made tons of new friends. Had a super hot girlfriend for a while but she was also kinda crazy (as I found out after we started dating). Met a TON of celebrities which was cool. Lots of good memories made from events I attended and places I went to when I would go out with friends. Very good year.

EDIT: Oh yeahhh!! My first ever 4.0 GPA in college just happened this semester. haha

2011 was a very stressful year financially for my family, we survived only to renew the struggle this year. :lol Gotta laugh to keep from crying. :-[ The paycheck seems smaller now at the closing of 2011. It is a real challenge to figure ways to cut back and still breath. Gaming life becomes very retro with 99 cent games. :lol

Biggest highlight was that I finally met all my goals that my Doctor set for me. Cholesterol levels are now good, weight in check, blood pressure good, other medical problems are looking good. It has been a two year battle with changing medications and diet. 8)

Got a Wii January 2011. My first taste of this generation of gaming. ::D Been an off and on relationship. :lol

Some retro moments was picking up a Re tron3, a clone cart based system with NES, SNES, and Genesis ports. (the streets are not paved with gold) Still fun to play with though.

Got a rotor for my TV antenna and picked up a total of over 50 broadcast digital and HD channels from my location. 8)

Hard to think through all the jumble mess that made up 2011 for me.

Even though I remember a lot of good times through the year, there are still those moments that make me glad it is over. *wipes sweat from forehead*

I ran away from home and dropped out of school. Oh and my girlfriend committed suicide.
Guess those aren't really highlights in the sense that you're talking about, though.

Why are all the super hot ones always crazy!? lol. How'd you meet all the celebs?

2011 was okay for me. My biggest highlights were being able to see my friends a few times that live in other states. Oh, and Skyrim. :) Other than that...? Kind of glad it's over and looking forward to 2012 being better.

My problems were mostly financial. Also mostly work related. At the beginning of the year, I got hamstrung by a manager I was working with. He didn't like me. And although it blew up in his face, I still dealt with the fallout, as in I didn't get demoted or fired, but was denied a raise. And I ended up at a store that was an hour away from me. But that turned into a major blessing because the manager I worked with there went great lengths to restore my reputation. The shining moment of 2011 was when my wife and I got to blow almost $2500 on my kids for Christmas. Doing that for some of the most grateful kids is an awesome blessing.

2012 so far has been great. Got two things in the mail, a folding utility knife and a North Carolina state flag, with no information on who sent it to me. I got transferred yet again, and am now with a manager who is amazingly enthusiastic. Next week I get to buy another controller for the Wii, and hit up a gun show.

Let's see...

Negatives
-Got robbed of pretty much everything valuable when my house got broken into.
-Got a drinking ticket... expensive and not fun.
-Best friend and I aren't on speaking terms anymore.

Positives
-Got a job as TA
-Made a lot of new friends
-Maintained my high GPA and kept my scholarship going
-Made a decent amount of money while doing so
-Had a lot of fun getting plastered with my friends
-Dark Souls.
-And on the women front probably the best news. Sometimes, pictures speak louder than words...

She's outrageously good looking and probably has the best personality of any girl I've ever met. Legit.

Overall, a good year ;)

Awesome! Personality is HUGE. It seems like these days a good personality is much harder to find than good looks. So congrats to you brudda!

Wow. Some of you guys went through some serious stuff. Good on ya for keepin' on keepin' on.

2011 was massive highs and lows for me. My last semester of school was probably my best, as I finally had that moment of going to university and meeting a bunch of people who I didn't know and was not related to but were exactly like me in ways I never thought possible or desirable. It was short lived, which really sucked, but better late than never.

Graduating was great, but post grad was horrendous. Everything about my life was in doubt for a two month period. Walls closed in really fast during that time. Scary stuff. Insomnia crept in really bad, not to mention some pretty destructive/addictive behavior that I'm only now really feeling capable of dealing with. Nothing too major, but I'm pretty sure for awhile there (like, over several months) the number of evenings in the week I spent sober were less than the evenings I didn't. :-\

Then I scored an internship that was better than anything I could have imagined, though the adjustment period was longer than usual and fraught will all sorts of massive highs and lows (hence the continued desire to not be sober often).

Then I wrote an essay on a whim and placed 4th in an international contest that saw the top 12 flown out to Vienna, Austria to participate in an international management conference. I did and saw things there that I don't think I'll ever get to do and see again, and never thought I would do or see to begin with. And I met some of the most amazing people I think I will ever meet. It was probably the greatest experience of my life.

So yeah, definitely highs and lows, all in a really short timeframe. Overall though, 2011 is probably one of those years I'll look back on fondly in my old age, in a "best of times, worst of times" kind of way. Can't ask for more than that. :D
