Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 accidentally slipped?

These dogtags popped up and it looks like another one is underway. The only thing keeping Activision alive? You betcha. The next franchise to be drilled to the ground? You betcha.

This does not surprise me at all, in fact I was kind of expecting it. Sadly, the Call of Duty games have been gettings progressivley worse imho, just like nearly every series tainted by Activision.:shame So its kind of blah news to me.

Mega summed it all up in his post, so no need to type anything else...

I don't think CoD will be drilled into the ground. MW2 left a cliff hanger, thus the story line must continue and end up at an ultimatum. It's not like they are just making up new stories with every MW game. Now, Halo...that needs to die off.

Why all the hate for Halo?

i disagree as far as Call of Duty games have been getting worse! they are getting more realistic and thats pretty cool. i like Black Ops. the best. Modern warfare is a close second!

whats wrong with halo? its a good game and series of games. Reach was one of the best games. i feel though, Halo 1 for PC was the best. free online multiplayer! and the graphics were better than the "at the time" call of duty by far!!!

I think they might, mostly because a majority of their franchises are gone and it's the one that is guaranteed to make them money. So I have a bad feeling they're going to milk it even more until they can replenish the lost franchises.

I won't say it's a bad game, but I find Halo pretty boring and slow. I also prefer a more realistic, strategical setting rather than the run-n-gun, shoot anything that moves setting. I think Battlefield 3 is going to crap on all the FPSs once it comes out. Crysis 2 looks to be everything Halo should've been but can't say for sure until the game comes out.

I will admit that Halo is different as far as a common FPS. but thats what makes it so fun! at least thats how i feel

As far as relaism goes I think they are going the complete opposite direction. The first three (though, the 3rd is iffy) were based on Actual wars, whereas now they are based on overblown fictional hollywood-esque events.

I don't hate the recent games but the quality is definitley slipping. They are entertaining stories, but pretty weak in single player regarding gameplay, and Black Ops is by far the weakest offering in terms of gameplay, and gameplay is what I care most about. S'why I'm not so much of a fan any more.

I agree with this statement IMMENSELY.

Call of Duty games of late have more and more resembled military-themed casino slot machines more than anything else (wars, soldiers, death, etc.). Every time you spawn is like putting in another quarter. Kill three players (match three symbols), get a reward. The more guys you kill (the more symbols you match), the more rewards you get. Cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching. War doesn't get much more abstracted than that.

This "news" really shouldn't be news at all. Activision has stated on numerous occasions that the Call of Duty franchise is an "annualisable" one, meaning they have every intention of releasing one every year. So this isn't "news" so much as it is a confirmation that the status quo remains.

personally, i didnt like ODST very much. it wasn't a very successful move at all, and i think REACH was exactly what its name was! a REACH!!! and it was a damn good one. my favorite one of all of them, not just because the online multiplayer was free for it, was Halo 1. cause on PC it was free. thats how i got into FPS in the first place :)

true, BUT how many wars do they have left to base their games on? i mean seriously. the world isn't at war all the time. well i take that back, the world isn't at MAJOR wars very often. the middle east is a decent war but its not a global war. that's what Call of Duty has done. they have taken Global wars and made them into games. we don't exactly have a bunch of global wars thank god! so i have to say that, unless there is another global war, we have to deal with fictional wars in games. and that's not a bad thing :)
