A notice to all members about posting and the like

I first and foremost wanted to thank all of you who have been here for awhile AND newer members for making this your place to post and talk about games and other subject matter.

I also want to state... while I want to encourage as much posting as possible... please try to make a point to visit some of the other gaming sections and make on topic posts. The more on topic posts we have, the more relevant our board will be to search engines AND people using this board... and this will ultimately help us become a larger board and keep growing.

I want you all to have fun, but at the same time, please try to post up logical messages.... and on topic discussions in the gaming specific forums. Feel free to create posts about games that you wish to discuss. Main point = have fun and post up, but please help post good content as well :)

I was lied to and deceived! I found no notice, only a post.

But yes, I would like to see this followed through with, I get disappointed seeing a new reply, only to see it says something like

"AEFHSFDGHJFHMNSWRDTGVRDTHSZWRTHJFV"

BV, I haven't seen any new posts from you for a while. Are you busy? Hope everything's going alright.

I agree with Spartan. I don't like the random posts that've been popping up lately.
 
Agreed, BV. It's sometimes annoying when I come in, see a bunch of new posts, and they're not worth reading because it's nonsense. But sometiems a little sidetrack makes good conversation, and may even be funny.

Killed... is the better word.  I was swamped before... but someone dropped another swamp on me.  ok.. that was bad.  But I got killed with site work, store work, and I'm helping 2 other sites out at this time.  One is a volunteer deal...  the other, I'm getting paid to set it up for them.

Then there is school... I decided to finish up another certificate... and a job hunt right now... and family issues I am not even going into here.

I just want to see more posts on topic as well... I mean, we didn't get this large and have this many hits from irrelevant posts.  If we don't get good posts and content, we will lose what ground we made.  This board alone pulls AT LEAST half a million hits per month.... the entire site pulls 2.5 million hits per month.  You get that with good content (not just on the forums btw).   The forums are a major part of this site... and for the good of EVERYONE involved with the site, it is imparitive that we have people make good posts as well.  IT's fine to have fun...and do non-sense... but that's what the "post it" topic in the general discussion forum is.

All I am asking our members to do (everyone), try to make 5 ON TOPIC POSTS per day in addition to your other posts.  That is 5 posts... in the gaming specific forums.  That would help the boards tremendously.  That could be 5 new topics... or 1 new topic and 4 replies... or whatever.

But keep posting up and having fun :) These boards are for that... and have always been about fun.

I don't know if I can do that many in the gamer specific areas, because I have not gotten any new games for awhlie. I mean, there is only so much that you can say about a certain system or game..before it gets kinda boring to talk about.

I tried to start a few topics recently on games I had read about, but I don't think my poor little brain can come up with that many gamer specific posts per day.

I check to see if there are any new topics to post in over there in those sections, but there is usually not.

If I get a new game or system, I am sure I would have something to say, but that might not be for awhile. Oh, well.

Don't take everything literal :)  it was an example.  Some people don't post that much per day  ;)

The point was... have fun and post up.. and try to keep things a little more specific instead of saying:
"teh cool is now!"  :lol  if that makes sense.

This is what I am trying to change a little :) A lot of people say this... and I'm trying to make it better for everyone involved with the boards so there ARE posts in those sections to respond to. We have to start somewhere.


Like I said.. #1 have fun.

Do what I do from time to time, being as I don't buy every game out there before the ink on the cover is dry. Post on older gen games. Maybe throw in some "how tos" that you have found so that other gamers who are playing the same game will be like, "Hey cool!! I didn't think of that!!"

And like BV said, have fun with it. Because if it ain't fun, it ain't worth doing.
 
We need more posters in gaming forums. We seem to have the most traffic in the General Section an stuff that relates nothing to gaming. It is okay, but we need more gaming posts!

we are getting more and more frequent posters... but it seems like some of our good posters have dropped off somewhere. 

But we will get more when there are more topics to discuss... that's sort of the catch.  You have to have topics for people to post in... but members to create those topics.  So if people start posting a few more on topics per day, we'll start getting more members to do it.  Board of dreams... (ok bad joke) :lol

I hope you take notice and comprehend the reason for some of those "members" who shall remain unnamed leaving.
 
Yeah hopefully it's not cause they didn't get their way. That'd be very childish. I've seen a few people leave for that reason. This place isn't meant for drama-queens. :lol

What-eva!! What-eva!! 'Tis true. There are more things in this world to get all riled up from besides games.

Part of it could be because of the HUGE age differences here. Seems there are more 15-18 year olds than older members like on other forums. Just a thought!
