A Simple Question That Might Prevent Your Premature Death

I wanted to share a simple question the late Joe Harris once asked me.It wasn't liquor that killed him,it was diabetes.I was a Chess student of his for over 10 years before he passed away.He was a smart man,but everyone has problems, his was eating 5 or so "Burritos" in one sitting. He made a statement to me one day that I'll never forget. This remark of his, really blew me away.It was with respect to addiction.I just think it's very important to arm yourself with this kind of knowledge.

It doesn't matter who you are,you can still fall prey to addiction.A good example is Keith Urban. He recently finished a stay at a detox clinic not too long ago. With his money,I have no doubt it was a private clinic, which is weird because I first heard about it on CMT.I don't know what is worse, having the scratch like his and can always buy it,or not having the scratch and breaking the law to get it.?

Anyway Joe said:"If someone asks you,or you ask yourself,Do I have a problem and you have to think about it,you do."
I know some of the topics I post may seem to be boring or seem like "Downers",but being a recovering addict,I feel it incumbent upon myself to do so.

Godspeed,
KAZ

My Uncle almost died of diabetes. He would literally slam about 3-4 20oz Mountain Dews every day. One day he just felt "off" so he went to Doctor and they told him his blood sugar was so high he should be dead! That is why I strive so hard to be healthy, be active, and stay away from junk food. Sugar was his addiction, and it damn near cost him his life. Anyhow, I am happy to say I can honesty answer that question with no hesitation. I kicked my worst addiction 2 years ago {cigarettes} and I could never go back to that:)

That's commendable x2!
I tried to quit because it interfered with my Tae Kwon Do.Can you guess I which I chose between the 2. :lol

Seriously, that is a remarkable achievement.Especially if you work out. Some studies show that quitting smokes can be equated to Heroin withdrawl.

This may seem irrelevant, but I used to buy food and drink often when I was down the street or had cash on hand. Now, lacking cash doesn't cause you harm, but it can cause problems in the future, and when the hard times come, cash, the "root of all evil", can bring you back in play.
