Achievement Cheaters will be caught (Gamerscore will reset to ZERO)

eh, if we really didn't have cheaters we wouldn't have some awesome games on certain games. Take ScoutzKnivez on Counter Strike for example. The "cheaters" made that game what it is and don't forget the RPG add-on for ScoutzKnivez. Hell, even in Halo there were some awesome mods that made for some awesome games too. Now I can't be all pro-modder/hacker/cheater. When I get into a game and we have people with speed mods (except if everyone has them), aimbot, they're wallin, or even in Halo with the Blue-Screeners or even yet in DoAU2 with freaking stand-byers. All I'm saying is that cheaters/modders/hackers can bring some good and they can bring some bad.

:lol stand-byers?

I am all for modding... but hacking in game and cheating is a no go. It's annoying, and nothing good comes about that in game. If they decide to make a mod, that's different.

yea, it's a hardware type hack. while in a fight they sit by their cable router and when they start to lose they hold the stand-by button on the router. gaining them and yourself 1000 exp. It's so annoying to have that happen >.<

Yeah, it's highly unlikely they would ding someone who isn't actually "cheating" as they define it.

People don't accidentally hack their 360.

People that have hacked 360's already void their warranty and can't even go onto XBL.

I won't go into the specs on exactly how it works, but there are ways to get a hacked 360 on Live. By resetting these people's gamer scores to 0 Microsoft neutralizes the purpose of going online with a hacked 360.

How so? Having the gamer scores at 0 just means that it's at zero. Being labeled as a cheater isn't gunna stop them. I was just saying that if a person's 360 is hacked that means auto-Ban on XBL, IP ban sometimes, and that setting the gamer score to zero is a different story.

People use "gamesave tampering" in order to rack up achievements and boost their gamerscore. By reducing their gamerscore to 0 and ensuring they can't obtain achievements in those games anymore makes hacking the 360 to obtain a higher gamerscore too risky. It erases the motive.

Microsoft can't stop people from hacking their 360's and getting online, but they can keep them from ruining the online experience for gamers who are playing fairly. This action is specifically aimed at doing just that.

The action is just to decrease the gamerscore to zero and labeling them as cheaters. This has nothing to do with the ones that go online and use hacks to play multiplayer match-types. I don't find people having a higher gamerscore as ruining the online experience for the gamers that do play fairly.

Thus deterring them from cheating again.

Those are the people who will lose the achievements they collected using hacks, it has everything to do with them.

People who hack their 360 can have an inherit advantage over other players, ruining the experience as it's not a fair match. They rack up achievements easier because they have an advantage. The gamerscore is a result of the hack, not the reason the multiplayer experience is ruined. It is a deterrent for those who would ruin it just to get a higher gamerscore.

But what about those who play just to cheat and don't care about the gamerscore?

There's a good chance hackers could get around the cheater label.
