arcade monitor

hello people,as you may or may not know,i am about to buy a x-men vs streetfighter arcade machine.it works fine, but the monitor is dull...is there a way to make it brighter without having to buy a new monitor?by the way i have no experience what so ever with arcade machines,so if there is a dial or something that i dont know about yet....dont laugh :)

i have been looking around the "net" for info, but i thought i would post on it here since there might be someone with expertice in this field.a TV repairman is a good idea though...i just wanted to do it myself so it would be free :)

I recommend you dont since CRT monitors are very dangerous to work with, unless you've done it before.

Theres a local shop in town that has a really erally old mario arcade machine, but the screen is all wavy like its underwater. I was wondering if this might be related at all to what is goin on with yours. Also if you happen to know if anythin can be done.

the monitor on the machine i am about to buy is just dull,no waves or anything like that...and i dont know the first thing about arcade monitors :)
