are next-gen games missing the point?

But part of being "hardcore" is enjoying a game that's good, regardless of what kind of game it is. That's what I mean. A hardcore gamer has as much fun playing Gears of War as playing Super Paper Mario.

But the hardcores only seem to care about their GTAs and Halos. Hardcores want the fast, good looking, big company games. Hardcores don't want to try new things.

Hardcores don't wanna play the same Mario they've seen years before but with updated graphics...or this Wiifit thing. Of course they'll be fun for a bit, but they don't have achievements, online play, great graphics (it's important to the hardcores), and enough innovation to keep you busy for days and days.

Wi-Fi might help hardcores want Metroid, but it might hurt the single player. Either way Retro approaches it, we get crap Wi-Fi or good Wi-Fi, crap single player, or good single player, no Wi-Fi.

Yeah, Idk if you haven't heard from bein on vacation...but they confirmed that they're not putting any multiplayer in Metroid Prime. That puts a dent in things.

Right...vacation...Yeah, I've heard, though. I'm glad, I was never expecting multiplayer anyways, and after Echoes, I don't want it.

So any game that has no Achievements is not hardcore? That rules out all games on the PS3 and Wii, period. :lol I know you have to be kidding on that one.

As far as Metroid goes, they were screwed either way. I'm still going to enjoy the single player though. I have Halo 3 and Gears for online.

Nah, not kidding. And I didn't say it HAD to have it for it to be hardcore, but it does add alot to replayability and keeps the hardcore gamer on edge trying to rack up that Gamerscore.

Well I'll give you that. But at the same time, I know people that played mediocre games like King Kong and Perfect Dark Zero just for gamerscore points. I personally don't play games that suck just to get gamerpoints.

Ah, yeah, I chose Underground...lol just cause...after a few drinks n playin Madden...I can and will say anything. :lol

Once Wii gets the online gaming under it's belt...I'm sure it'll pick up with the hardcore fan base. Online features add alot of replayability to a game.

It seems more to me that Nintendo is content on playing second fiddle to Microsoft and Sony while it quietly rakes in the dough from casual gamers and I don't see any potential for the Wii to be anything more than a fun ride for us so called "hardcore" folks

True Wifi may help be the saving grace of the Wii games but online has been done and been done well by others so it really come back down to the games themselves

of course even though I say this I still plan to get my share of Mario, Smash, Metroid and the like, maybe a party game or two for the novelty but I know that they will be pushed to the background once Sony and Microsoft release the games that will keep me interested long after any Wii game can

The point is making it so people want it, so they can make more money.

Why make what we want, when we buy what they want/make/produce/mess up?

[Watch the cussing - Mai]

Because if we don't want something, we do something called not buying it.

Hasn't stopped them before.
Doesn't stop them now.
Parents will buy a crappy game, they don't know.
Plus, a lot of peopel rent crappy games just to try them out,
Guess what!?
They make money from that too.

And I'm guessing that Ratatouille sold twice as much as Halo 2 then, right?
