Best and worst impulse buy on a game?

Question 1: What is the best game you bought on impulse?

For me, I'd have to say Golden Sun for the GBA. When I bought it, I really hadn't heard that much about it other than it was a good rpg. So I saw it for $20 and I decided to get it. Now it's my favorite rpg. :D

The second would probably be FFX. I hadn't really been into the FF series at that point, but it was clearanced for $10 at work, so I decided, "What the heck? It's only $10." I ended up loving that, too.

Question 2: What is the worst game you bought on impulse?

Mine would probably have to be Enter the Matrix. I liked the fighting but the bugs...ouch.

Second would probably be Grand Theft Auto III...enjoyable in some aspects, but overall I personally thought it to be overrated.

Both of these games are no longer in my collection, needless to say.

My best impulse buy would have to be Ocarina of Time. I know some of you are thinking "how is that an impulse buy" but you have to understand, I came from a very small town and had only 2 TV channels. I'd never heard of Link, or Zelda, or any of the adventures they had. I found out about A Link to the Past after I saw commercials for Ocarina of Time, so one day I went into a store, saw it in the case and remembered the commercials, and bam, I was blissfully entertained for the next 6 months.

My worst impulse buy was probably Star Fox Adventures. I remember anticipating Dinosaur Planet for the 64, and I'd heard it was getting moved to the GC and that Star Fox was now in it, so I thought it would be a cool game. I played through the game once, only because I felt obligated to get my money's worth. I tried playing through it again, but it was so boring I just couldn't do it.

I also bought Quidditch World Cup on an impulse. I love Harry Potter and thought the idea had some great potential, plus it was by EA which usually guarantees a standard of quality, but the overall concept used for the game was ridiculous. You don't even get to control where you fly, what the hell is up with that!?

My best impulse buy would have to be either FFX for the PS2 or Skies of Arcadia: Legends for the GCN. Both were excellent RPG's. I'd never heard about Skies of Arcadia before til I saw it at Gamestop one day and bought it. FFX I got when it became only $20 at Wal-mart and I had that much money burning a hole in my pocket.

I can't really think of a negative impulse buy I've made, because I honestly don't make impulse buys very often. The two above are the only impulse buys I can even think of.

Best-Um, probablly Breakdown or Deus Ex Invisible War.

Worst- Splinter Cell Pandora Tommorrow. Great game, but there are alot of glitches, bugs etc that make the game alot less fun. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have bought this game and just waited for a price drop.

worst: zone of the enders for ps2. that thing was garbage, i bought it for the mgs2 demo pretty much

Best would probably be Oni, I heard from someone that it was a really good and challenging game, but I knew nothing about it. I then go into the store and the Anime looked cool, and it was going cheap, so I thought "why the hell not?". I turned out to really love this game, and I find it hugely underrated.

Worst would be Manhunt. I just hate that game, it's so just there to feed off stupid people that love violence.

I'm bumping an OLD topic :lol I will do this from time to time. Found on Page 40 :lol

this seems to be a good topic :)

Kinda funny how good topics (well, those that seem good at least) get pushed back farther adn farther and are forgotten.

I have never really bought a game on impulse. The closest would be renting Oot cuz I remember dinking around on the old NES Zelda, and I thought I may as well. Then I got the game after returning the rented one.

I guess I had a pretty bad one. Tony Hawk's Underground. Up to that point I had beat every THPS game out there, so when I saw it I trusted that it would be good. It was decent, but I was dissapointed with how short it was.

my best impulse buy would have to be"pokemon blue version"because i had never heard of a pokemon before, and i thought i would take a chance....it turned out to be a really fun game,if a little bit kiddie :)my worst impulse buy ever was revolution x back in the early 90's...man that game sucked

Same here. I got stuck on one part and never played it again.

I dont have any best or worst implulse buys. I always some how know something about the game that Im about to purchase. If I dont know about it I usually dont pay attention to it and skip it on the racks.

Best- Xenosaga for the PS2 and Silver for the Dreamcast because none of them received much media attention and were definitely sleepers. Those are the 2 games I think of when I think of those systems.

Worst- Demon Stone for the PS2. No idea why I bought it. :?

If you suck at it, then don't use it. There's an option to turn it off.

Jus go with the flow 8)

You say Shadow the hedgehog is awesome Xboxking?it looks very cool to me,but it is getting such bad reviews....who listens to reviews anyway? :)

I try not to, sometimes they are right, well the ones from PSM usually have the same opinions as me. I thought they were pretty good at reviewing PS games. Anyways I say rent it first.
