Best game you played this year?

Ok, well, I know there is still a couple months left in the year, but, what is the best game you played this year so far {console or handheld}, and why? Mine would have to be Shadow Of The Colossus, with Tales Of Symphonia being a VERY close second. What put SoTC over ToS was the story and emotions it provoked. Gameplay wise they are neck and neck, but overall SoTC had more of a lasting impact on me.

Tales of Abyss was amazing.

But one that made me feel like I could do anything (on the game...) was Ninja Gaiden.

Silent Hill series was awesome for me this year.

I'd don't have a best. Too many. >.<

oh boy i played so many good games this year XD... well since i started playing ToA last year i guess that one doesn't count (though if it counts then it's the one that wins XD), i think the war is between brawl, The world ends with you and okami, and the 3 metal gear solid games i just simply can't choose between these 6

I'll do it for you. MGS.

honestly you can't do that XD, well honestly i think MGS2 falls behind for a bit, so is between MGS3, MGS, Brawl, Okami and The world ends with you. (but they all get destroyed by Tales of the Abyss if it counts... because i beat it this year but i started playing it last year)

Hands down Crisis Core. I've never been so viscerally affected by a game before. While the fighting itself was a little lackluster, the story/graphics/music were phenomenal.

Second place, The World End With You. What a great little game. It's also led me to a revelation that my own personal style is, always has been, and probably always will be Natural Puppy. :D

Third, (with a caveat like Zidart's) Tales of the Abyss. Great great great game. But I started it a looooong time ago so I don't know if it counts.

May I have a 4th with Animal Crossing Wii by the end of the year. :D

Probably Civilization Revolution.

Mostly because it was never a game I thought I'd enjoy, and I ended up unable to put it down.

Notable mentions would be GTA IV and Brawl. Brawl, because it has worked its way into the general routine whilst hanging out with friends, and GTA IV because it made every game before it feel incomplete.

Good topic, got me remembering all the sweet games I've played this year. :D
