May 16th, 1998...10th grade.......there I was....running for President of the Student Body...I had to give a speech in front of 350 people.. my heart was in my throat. I couldn't barely breath. I was wearing a large striped T-shirt (white with blue stripes) that felt like a 40 lbs led-weight because of the pressure I was under.
I stood in front of those people trying so hard not to laugh and trying to read my speech with ease.
So the only thing I could do is speak in a presidental impressionation voice of Richard Nixon and Kennedy blended into one...turned out rather well....
especially after I was finished...I screamed at the top of my lungs ROCK THE VOTE!!!!!!!!!! which actually sounded more like
ROCK N ROLL!!!!!!!!!!
Then after I was seated...I folded my arms and put on my sunglasses 8) like so...
The entire crowd busted out laughing...a roar of 350 people was priceless...for a moment, I was able to kiss heaven on the lips...not a feeling in the world could break me from such a moment of peace among that many people....
later on, that speech was put in a frame and dubbed "The Rock N Roll Speech" by Bethel Regional High School...and went down in history...they still speak about it to this day..
What happened to the voting you may wonder? I lost by 3 votes...it was alright however, because I was moving to Texas that summer...and I honestly wanted to make a farewell speech to all my friends, so I figured it was the best and only chance to deliver it the way I wanted it
