Best RPG on the PS1 or PS2

Every game is an RPG...or rather has RPG elements in it, but there's a big difference between a traditional RPG and God of War.

My favorite RPG's for the PS2 have always been Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2...but I just recently got Persona 3 FES from a friend...and it's quickly climbing its way up there.

Awesome! I need to get that game. You should pick up Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne if you like Persona, it's one of the more underrated RPG's on the PS2.

I was actually looking at that game. It looks like it has the same art style, or at least similar. Are they made by the same developers?

And yes, for knowing nothing about Persona, and buying it on a whim, I am blown away to say the least.

Yeah, Atlus. You should check out some of their other games, too, like the disgaea series.

Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X
Chrono Trigger (Final Fantasy Chronicles)
Final Fantasy VIII
Legend of Dragoon needs a mention even though I haven't beaten it.

Legend of Dragoon gets way hard towards the end, but it makes up for it with how it sums up a lot of stories that happen throughout the game, frequent save spots and tons of item and armor shops. The final battle is about two hours long, and the final boss (Melbu Frahma) changes physically four times. The first time is cake. He goes down fast. The second is simply endourance. The thrid is tough because of the elemental attacks. The fourth uses instant death attacks left and right (If you equip Rose with her headband, she becomes immune). And just when you realize that you're out of spells and junk, and two of your party are dead, you beat him. The ending is about a 15 minute cut-scene that is pretty amazing to watch. No spoilers here. Do the work and you'll see.

yep definetly one of the longest and most amazing boss battles i've ever played, it was also very hard, but i had equiped dart with an item that gives him MP everytime he's hit (that's how i killed him faster but even so he took me a long time).

but i changed my mind, the best RPG on playstation 2 is without a doubt tales of the abyss :D (but legend of dragoon is the best on ps1 IMO)
