Best seller of 2007?

Yes, it's that time. Prediction time! No, the year is not over yet. But that makes it even more fun! In 2008 when someone bumps this topic and we see how bad/good our predictions were, it will be funny! :D

So obvious choice? Pokemon Diamond or Halo 3.

But I'm going to go with the slightly less obvious choice of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Possible runner up is GTAV.

In my dreams best seller would be Eternal Sonata but I know that's not happening.
 
GTA IV. The GTA series sells phenomenally, better than Halo has by about 5 million copies...of course, there isn't much time for it to sell in, so, best seller, by the end of 2007, I guess Halo 3 because it has 2 more months than GTA IV to sell. If you combined Pokemon Diamond and Pearl sales, you'll get probably 4 million or 5 million sold so it won't be too far behind...
 
Brawl. Brawl will outsell them all. Halo 3 and GTA will do good, but Brawl takes the cake this year.
 
Nearly every Wii owner will purchase Brawl, and there are definitely a lot of those...

It's hard to say really, but in the end, I'm gonna guess Brawl as well. GTA and Halo are powerhouse franchises, but I don't think GTA has enough time to sell in 07, and for some reason I get the feeling Halo 3 might not be able to outsell Brawl in the short run. As time goes on, I think GTA and Halo will outsell Brawl, but off the hop like that, I gotta cheer for the dark horse.

I'm not so sure about that one. It will, no doubt be a best seller, but in GTA, its going up against a series in which selling 13 million copies is the norm, and in Halo, its going up against the most popular Xbox game ever, and coupled with the 3 million console lead the 360 has on the Wii, I think we might see Brawl coming in 3rd this year. 15 million+ people will have the opportunity to buy GTA 4 this year, 11-12 million Halo 3, and 8 million, Brawl. There just aren't enough Wii owners for Brawl to outsell the other two yet...
 
I wish Bioshock but obviously Halo 3 for adult players and Pokemon Diamond and Pearl for the younger audiences. (even though there is older people who play it... :lol)

Bioshock will pwn, but I wish Mass Effect would become a big seller. I'd better keep dreaming. :-\

there is no stopping the hype monster than is halo 3. it is the single biggest game of the year. halo 2 was the biggest selling entertainment product ever made, and even more people want halo 3. discussion over.

Was it actually? I'm not calling you a liar or anything like that, but I am curious, is Halo 2 the best selling game of all time?

No, it wasn't. A Mario game (idk which) is still highest w/ 18 million sold. Diablo 2 sold about 16 million, and a bunch of GTA games have sold like 13-15 million. Halo 2 only sold about 8 million I believe...

EDIT: 7 million according to wikipedia...

is what i heard. spiderman (1 or 2, i forget right now lol) is the biggest weekend movie ever released, and halo 2 made over double its money on its first day

anyway, even if i was mislead, there is still no stopping halo 3 this year

Yeah, Halo 2 made like 175 million bucks on its first day. Spider Man 3 just borke the weekend box office record though with like $160 million. Of course, movie tickets are a lot cheaper than games...
 
Well, the thing about Halo 3 vs. SSBB, is that even though more people own 360s than Wiis, not everyone who owns a 360 is getting Halo 3. Believe it or not, there are some people who have 360s that don't like the Halo franchise. On the other hand, most if not all people who own a Wii will buy SSBB. So it could be more of a heated battle than anyone expects.

I think everyone is leaving GTA out of this. Every GTA game since 3 has sold more than 10 million copies (I think. I need to find a source on that one though...), its available for both PS3 and 360, so, by November, you will probably have 15million+ people that can buy GTA IV at launch, and that may just be enough to compensate for the short amount of time it will be available for...

I definitely am for best selling ever because if every single person who bought a 360 picked up Halo 3, it still wouldn't have the sales to be best ever seller. It has a good chance for best of 2007, but it will be a tight race between Halo 3, SSBB, and GTA IV. I think GTA IV will end up selling the most in the long run, but just in 2007, its really hard to call...
 
But a lot of people are burned out on GTA, especially after the improvements Saints Row and Crackdown made in the genre. And people are still confused about which systems it is on. The fact that it won't be on the PS2 is going to kill sales alone. Even Sony faithfuls are hard pressed to buy a PS3 for GTAIV and they are sure as heck not going to buy a 360 for one game. If GTAIV was coming out on PS2 it would have a chance, but since it's 360/PS3 only it's not going to do as well.

lets clear this up now, saints row made no improvements in the genre
