Best seller of 2007?

Isn't every Wii on Amazon part of a bundle, though? That kinda kills it when you think how the price then comes closer to the other ones.

Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii by Nintendo (Nov 19, 2006) (Nintendo Wii)
52 Used & new from $347.50

About the same price as a bundle.

Most 360's and PS3's are bundles as well, so I don't see your point.

Also, taking it all in to context, if the Wii wasn't on Amazon, it's sales would be devastated. Because Nintendo can't seem to make Wii's anymore, it leaves it up to internet gateways like Amazon and Ebay to overprice them.

360 and PS3 are normally higher, big selling point of the Wii is its price. Nintendo can make Wiis, you just can't see them since they sell out in less than 24 hours.

That's actually true sometimes. When I got mine, I called and the guy aid they just put them out a half hour ago and that six or seven of the ten were sold just to people already in the store who walked by.

Ah, but an excellent point Mega brought up outside of this site, I'll bring into it. Nintendo likes to brag about the stores it sells its systems to, not the people it sells to. In other words, it likes to talk about how much it's shipped, even though Nintendo is doing a terrible job of producing the Wii just so it can say it sold out whenever it hits the shelves.

Right, yeah, sure, but there's nearly as many Wiis out there as there are 360's. The real reason they aren't doing so great at making them would be it was unexpected. Back at E3 06, everyone thought that the Wii would be the sideshow to the PS3, and by all previous means, it was supposed to be. But then they had five hour Wii lines and twenty minute PS3 lines. It was a total unexpected shift in the gaming world and it ripped a huge hole in expectations. Then all of a sudden, Nintendo was like, "Holy ****, we need more of these." So they made as many as they could for the holiday season and they were eaten up in stores and Ebay. Same with the PS3, except that just dropped recently. But now that the sales are higher, it's better for Sony, but it still can't keep up with the other two sales. I'm not trying to be biased right here, but if one of the best games coming out for the PS3 is a sequel to a game no one really liked, then, bleh. You can say it's different, and okay, I have no proof it will be bad, you have no proof it'll be good, but seeing what it's coming from, it is safer to assume it'll be bad before good. I'm not saying it has to be bad, I'm not saying that it's the same thing as the first, I know it's not. But that really shouldn't be one of the biggest games coming out for it.

EDIT: Fine. Hardware limitations. DS stands at 47 million, 360 at what, 12? Diamond and Pearl can(and actually might) sell more copies than there are 360's. Halo 3 will help sell 360's though, same with the price drop and the lack of crappy building.

You're being totally biased. :lol

You can't base a game's sequel off of the prequel. That's just really sad and immature on anyone's part. Also, the PS3 outsold the 360 in July and is continuing to do so. There aren't nearly as many Wii's as there are 360's. That statement has no basis either.

As Spartan said though, let's bring this back on topic. Halo 3 will dominate, and so far nobody's brining any good reasons. This is for the game that will sell the most, not the game(s). You can't have Pokemon Diamond AND Pearl. Alone, I don't see either one making a stand to Halo 3.

No one ever said anything about it being only standalone games, and they pretty much are the same game. Because really, even if there was one version, there'd only be slightly less copies, since some people wouldn't have to buy both.

Like I said, though, the sales would only be slightly lower if there was only one version, so whatever, it's not like the outcome affects anything.

Actually, doing some research...I guess you can keep Pokemon Diamond AND Pearl for a tag-team against Halo 3. Together, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl only had 500,000 preorders in the U.S. and managed to double up on that. Halo 3 on the other hand, has double the amount of preorders and will likely triple that in sales within it's first few months. And that's just in the U.S.

Nothing bad about Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, as I had Diamond, but I just don't see it standing a chance.

Back to the topic at hand. If anyone can make a point as to why the best seller won't be Halo 3, I'd like to see it.
Diamond and Pearl (combining their sales, like they should be) have been an unstoppable sales machine, selling 10 million units, over 5 months, a pace Halo 3 won't be able to match because the 360 has such a small installed base, almost 90% of 360 owners would have to buy Halo 3, to match its sales, a ridiculous percentage that can only be compared to games bundled with consoles.

Halo 3 also has a much shorter time to reach the sales of Pokemon D/P...it will undoubtadly beat Pokemon D/P in sales, I just don't know if it can in a little over 2 months.

Exactly, and we're looking for the best seller of 2007. I've never heard of selling 10 million copies worldwide within 2 months...it just isn't realistic.

As for the preorders thing you mentioned early, I think you may want to look at the Japanese pre order numbers. That's Diamond and Pearl's biggest market, so its only fair to compare the best market of both Halo 3, and D/P.

Actually, with over 5 million preorders for Halo 3...10 million doesn't seem all that realistic now. Because everyone knows said amount of preorders equals the same in sales.

But not everyone will actually get their preorder. I don't see why they would even preorder, but it's true. To scale, Halo 3 will outsell D/P, but in the year, it just doesn't have enough time.
