BioWare reclaims Knights of the Old Republic

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/02/13/knights-of-the-old-republic-back-in-biowares-hands/

After a brief stint with Obsidian Entertainment in 2004, the Star Wars: Kuhnigguts of the Old Republic franchise is set to return to the folks at BioWare. So says an EA investor report (yes, that one) which listed the game amongst BioWare's multiple ongoing projects. Mind you, it's listed simply as "KOTOR," so there's a small chance that the studio is actually working on Kleptomaniac on the Origami Recliner. That doesn't sound like something you'd collaborate with LucasArts on, though ...

While it doesn't preclude the possibility of the company working on more than one online game (or more than one KOTOR title), the separate listing of "new MMO" in the same report does cast some doubt on earlier KOTOR rumors. We'd prefer a single-player adventure over online organic meatbaggery, but perhaps you feel otherwise.

Never played the first two, but I would definitely pick up a next-gen one.

You're honestly missing out on one of the best games ever made, for any console. I'd suggest you get KOTOR before it gets rare and expensive {think you can still get it for xbox for like $15}.

Anyhow, this is most excellent news :D

BioWare is denying the whole thing...lessee if I can find that quote...here we go:

Hi folks

This seems to be much ado about nothing (to quote the bard). This was a slide that EA used to show the pedigree of the different studios to investors. That is why you see games that have already been released (like KotOR, Black, Boogie and others) mentioned on the slide.

Why was this closed, opened, edited, etc? Well, I wanted to find out the real info on this. Both Henley and Brian tried to help out, but I used my Almost-Godlike SuperCosmicPowers to keep things open till I could get teh real answer for you.

Now that we all know what this is, the thread can be closed. Thanks.
