Blogs are like online diarys, you have entrys you can put in, ect.. then a little space for people to comment.. and then most usually have a tagboard or something to leave short messages

that seems stupid compared to a message board... am I right?

I mean... I have read articles about businesses blogging to gain hits... but if you are just writing about yourself :-\ come on :lol

does anyone actually get into da blogs? I know they are popular.

in blogs you can (others HAVE) had the Secert Service show up at your door for speaking out against Bush. In message boards no one pays attention to tese as there not look upon very serously very ofter if at all.

LiveJournal is a popular blog service, too. I have a Journal there.

What I like about blogs is that you don't have to censor yourself (at least in your own blog). You can talk about whatever subject you want in any manner you want.

I'm not sure about Xanga but I know that LiveJournal also has community blogs, which act similar to message boards. The advantage message boards have over blogs in this case is that it's easier to find certain topics on a message board.

it seems to me that message boards are more direct communication as well as opposed to blogs. I wouldn't be posting comments in someones journal.... if so, I'd be like... nice though..... and thats it.

Maybe its just me... I just never saw the craze in them.

I do see it in message boards though... as more of a community basis.

blogs... are they really communities?

Message boards are to discuss things with other people. Journals/Blogs are for your personal opinions, statements or news. If I want to discuss video games or concerts, I'll go to a message board. If I want to share a couple of pictures of what I did last weekend with some friends, I'd post it on a journal.
