Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack April 3rd or 4th

So it turns out the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack is coming out this week, after all. Despite the official COD4 Game of the Year website decreeing an April 10 release date for the downloadable content, Infinity Ward's blogger extraordinaire fourzerotwo posted reassurances today that the map pack is "NOT delayed" (his emphasis) and that there's a good chance the maps will be available tomorrow night or early Friday.

"For those of you asking when you should take off work, I'd take off Friday," he said. It's a good thing we at Joystiq can work and play Call of Duty 4 (we're spoiled like that ... and ambidextrous). For those with the Game of the Year Edition, the provided tokens will work as soon as the maps become available.

So the packs are out now. I got them and I must say they are fun. Not great, but still fun.

Broadcast is easily the best new map. For those who don't know, it's based on the mission "Charlie Don't Surf" which is the Television Station stage. Creek is a beautiful map, but unfortunately too many hiding spots. It's a camper and sniper paradise. Although, this caused me to step up my game more. I had both my worst game and my best game on this map. Chinatown, is OK. The only problem is it has too many buildings. Otherwise the action gets very intense and I've had some of my closes matches on this map. I recommend them only to people who play COD4 regularly.

Right on, nice mini-review of those Maps Creepin'. I can't wait to try these out. I just can't decide which maps to buy...PS3 or 360 edition...I keep both to be fair online to all I play against here at EGA.

I say the 360. Since most of us have it for that system. Once the PS3 picks up steam you can get those.
