Can the DS be played over a wireless router / switch

IE to extend the range of the DS... can it be played over a wireless router?

can anyone confirm?

My Nintendo power said something about this... I'll have to find it though. I'll edit this post with it later

Q: Should I buy a router/what type of router should I buy
A: A router won't do you any good right now, but if you see a good deal on a
router, you may as well pick it up. The DS uses 802.11 (G or B, there will be
NO speed difference). Then just make sure your router is WIFI enabled.
(Most brands are, but my list of personally confirmed ones are: Microsoft,
Linksys, Belkin, Motorola, D-Link, and Netgear) If your brand is not listed,
you can email me,and I will let you know if it is WIFI enabled.

They also said it isn't online and you can't use it to boost range yet, but come mid 2005 possibly.
 
so.. they are making an additional unit or something?

or Nintendo is going to come out with something else?

you'll probably find out before I do BUT if I find out... I'll post it.

and I am not sure about software jeepin... it would have to be something that would read with the wireless router.... it could be software though... maybe they'll make a GBA cart for the DS... so that you can play DS games via wireless.... and have the DS wireless software GBA cart in the system as well.
 
Well, yesterday I found this site: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ They're similar to WarpPipe. They've added a DS category (no games yet though) in the games supported list, so maybe in the future!

the games should already be good to play via that service. They are all multiplayer ready via wireless.... so there should be no problem.

Finally, I'd just like to say that somebody should really send a PSP unit to whoever designed the WiFi module for the Nintendo DS - it's a very, very nice implementation - and adheres correctly to the recognised standards for wireless networking. I know others may argue that Nintendo uses their non-standard wireless architecture to "save power" - I'd like to officially confirm that as a *****-of-**** - Nintendo use their own "proprietary protocol" - because, it seems, they couldn't be bothered to / ran out if time trying to write a proper IP stack for the DS - so they used some horrible thrown-together frame format, used a very low-range tranceiver, and called it innovative. Anyway - my views on the DS hardware aren't relevant - what is relevant is that Kai will support both of these devices - one now, the other later - once I've finished jumping through all Nintendo's hoops.
