Bring on the Chaos
Ikaruga fans rejoice -- sort of. A formerly Japan-only shooter is headed to America.

May 6, 2005 - IGNcube learned today that the MileStone-developed GameCube shooter Chaos Field, which was published by SEGA in Japan, is now headed for a release in America. The title will be published by Q-3 and is scheduled for a late summer debut, according to the company.


Chaos Field was originally created for SEGA's ill-fated Dreamcast console. The Ikaruga-inspired vertical shooter took players through five stages of action-packed blasting, each of them made more difficult by three separate bosses.
The Japanese version of the GameCube port was more or less a copy and paste job. No word yet on whether or not the US build will include added features.

Chaos Field will be fully playable at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2005. Stay tuned for more.

Well, the GC version is entitled Chaos Field Expanded, and it's a revamped version of the NAOMI/DC original. The GC rev features longer levels with more borken up boss battles.

If it's coming to the US, I'll buy it to help support the US shmup scene. I'd like to see all the differences between it and the DC rev anyway.
 
so is this finally coming out soon? IGN states Nov 15th..

I 've been wanting a new shooter for the Gamecube :)

Same, I can't wait for its release. I love top-down flight shooters, especially these fancy 3D ones. Ikaruga is good, but it doesn't top it all.
 
man... wth.... anyone hear anything more about this game?

it was supposed to hit US 11-15-05.... there are no updates.... and I have no clue whether it is coming out now. The suppliers cannot find anything on it.

EBGames have the ship date listed as today (12/06/05) and GameStop have the ship date listed as next Tuesday (12/13/05).
Guess I'll check out the local EBX after work today to verify...
 
well... it was yesterday :)
that was supposively the actual ship date.... I'll have some in tomorrow if anyone wants them.

I have 4 coming (1 goes to me :lol )... so 3 left if anyone wants them @ $30.00 shipped. Saves a couple off store prices.

I cannot wait to play this game! I'd get yours before they run out.. Ikaruga went pretty fast back in the day... now it is somewhat hard to get ahold of.
