Chat between Xbox360 and Xbox, Can it be done?

My friend and I were trying this and it would not work. He has an Xbox and I have an Xbox360. We cannot get the Chat feature to work between the two. Is this option compatible between the Xbox and the 360? We can hear eachothers voice messages, but not being able to chat sucks. Any help would be great. Thank you!
 
Hmmm, I don't know much about it....but, I'll for sure look into it. My friends are having the same problems. I don't think you can chat between the two.

I think the Chat Feature is only 360 to 360. Seems you can't do it with the Xbox 1 Games or with the Xbox 1 and the 360. That sucks! You should be able to just chat even if you are not playing games. It says in the manual that one person can be watching a DVD and the other playing a game, but as long as you are online you can chat. I will have to call and complain to MS.
 
A noble quest...haha but I doubt MS will listen to one person. Maybe they'll guide you to a way you can do this though?

Hmm, I don't know. Let me know what they say.
 
I don't think it is possible...   Maybe there is a way that Microsoft knows.... but hey, not all Xbox games work on the 360.

They should've been able to make them work together..... but really... it seems some features on Xbox are not totally compatible with Xbox 360. 

If you do get an answer from Microsoft.. please post it up :)

well........Halo 2 360 players can play with Halo 2 regular xbox player......they can chat in-game and in-lobby.........but im not sure about the Dashboard chat, im assuming that is what you mean

Yes, thru the dashboard. We get the messages that eachother wants to chat and then it just never lets us and we do not hear eachother. I also heard that in Halo 2 you can only send text messages and not chat during play between the Xbox 360 and Regular Xbox. We will test that out since I am going to buy Halo 2 today at Circuit City for $22.88!
 
yeah... Halo 2 just dropped in price again.

Halo 2 sure didn't sell all that well... I mean.... after pre-orders that is. Heck, they still have special editions at my supplier.... and that says something IMO. Normally special editions are gone very shortly after launch or within a couple months.

BV, you know there are so many LE copies left because there were so many of them made. It was not limited in the sense that it was rarer than the regular version, it was their way of milking a little more money out of it. I'm sure they didn't stop producing them after the first run.

Yes, selling 2.4 million in 24 hours and 4.6 million copies in the year following is terrible. I'm sure Nintendo has a game that puts that to shame.

On topic, dashboard chat between Xbox 1 and the 360 can't happen, at least not yet.
