Hi People!

I'm just wondering if you fine ladies&gentlemen can help me out for the millionth time.

I spoke with the people at Sony and asked which type of videos my PS3 will support besides basic ones.Out of the types they told me one was called "AVI"(Please keep in mind I talking about the type of videos and clips available on the internet). When I downloaded material that was the AVI type it just said "Unsupported Data".

I called Sony back and they told me to go to Settings and adjust some "WVA" format or something.I did that, and all it said was "No Ethernet Connection" found.I don't know exactly what this means. What I'm wondering is,is there some way I can use some "Converting" program to perhaps convert the AVI to "MPEG-1" which my PS3 will play? Also someone I spoke to at a local computer shop told me that "MPG" is just an abbreviation for "M-PEG",but I tried that and it still won't play MPG.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for viewing.

Yes there is converting software. I have used it before to convert my bands music/videos. I only download the free trials then just find a new one. You can also purchase then obviously but I only need it once in a while so there was no need for me too ever. The other problems you are having I do not have the answer, but for converting just go to google and type in "Convert to MPEG-1" or you can try "Convert AVI to MPEG-1". Hope this helps.

Nick,you're a gentleman and a scholar,thanks for help. :lol

Did you enable all of your Media Playback on your options on the PS3 first. Actually that does seem to be your issue, you need to enable everything on your PS3 in your settings first it seem, such as enable windows media playback...

Hi Guys

He probably has exactly 1337 posts. It will probably go back to normal once he posts again.

Thanks Mai,just curious. :)

I personally feel that the words 1337, haxxorz, etc. have lost their meaning once it was brought out into the mainstream. But, that's enough on this, let's get back on topic.

well its still fun to say though, especailly when you "frag" someone with your "l33thaxxorz $killezz" lol.

BUt yeah, just thinking the PS3 can play CDs right, the booklet to the PS3 was so inclusive and the thing that actually lists every trademark on the PS3 unit is so extensive that searching for CD in that mess was just too much to look at.

Anyone Know Of A Good MKV To AVI Free Convertor Download?

I'm having trouble finding one that's easy to use.

Why convert mkv files are so much better.

Not really. Actually, both are quite cumbersome due to player compatibility, but AVI is more supported than MKV right now.

Re: Anyone Know Of A Good MKV To AVI Free Convertor Download?

Well, MKV is a much superior container to AVI but AVI has more support. However, that's changing. Hell, my 360 is playing MKVs now. I would keep it in MKV if you can. There is enough support. Just curious why you want to convert it to AVI?

Anyhow, I use Media Coder from SourceForge. Just Google it, it's easy to find.

Damn Sony. ::)

In that case try Media Coder. It's good but some people say it's not easy to use.
